Is there really a need for segregation ? 3,000 odd people in a ground that could hold around twice that amount. Are the Sutton (or Aldershot) faithful liable to start trouble ? Obviously yes. You could have 200 in there and there could be trouble. We've seen it before. The number doesn't matter, it's who is in there that does.

Was the Leeds United game in the dreaded and much maligned 1970's segregated ?

Aldershot are renowned for having some neanderthal-esque fans that like a scrap, so I'd segregate it all day long. The attendance at home to Tranmere was 2,237, and there was plenty of trouble that day from the Tranmere fans.

Was the Leeds United game in the dreaded and much maligned 1970's segregated ? I think you know the answer to this already Billy. The question you should ask would be "Would there have been any trouble if Leeds lost?". Because in the much maligned 70s as you put it, there was a pretty clear correlation.

There's often the feeling of a lot of space at GGL because of the distance between the terrace steps and the perimeter fence in many areas of the ground. You could probably fit 10,000 inside the ground without too much effort (I mean 14,000 crammed in in 1970) but it wouldn't necessarily be safe and many people would have huge difficulty getting any kind of decent view of the game!

Perhaps in future we will see all spectators being required to wear High Visibility jackets with the phone number of their next of kin on.You can't be too careful in these enlightened times we live in.

Don't forget they all need to be head counted as well. Obviously.

Billy, your comments read like they're directed either at the club or us fans. Why? You know full well this decision is out of all our hands and no amount of nitpicking or mocking is going to affect things one iota. The health and safety group don't read this forum. Why don't you write to them and let them know you've made the expert decision that you, someone who barely even attends our matches, know better than they do about how to keep everyone safe on match days?

Naturally, all stewards will need to be equipped with high powered air rifles that shoot tranquiliser darts, in order to reduce the risk of excessive intra-stadium movement. Dragnets can also be deployed by stewards from the roof of stands to further assist in crowd containment. This is the only sensible way forward.

I believe when we famously beat Aldershot in 87, there were 3,419 people at that game. That's when we had a capacity of 8,000. It certainly didn't feel "half full" that day, and I think it's the only time I can think of where there police horses in the ground and even with segregation (which I think we had) there was trouble. The club has had a lot of pressure from Health and Safety in recent weeks it seems, and any sensible person involved in decision making will be doing whatever they can to make sure that they mitigate the risk of ANY problems. With the resources they have, it will be impossible to eliminate everything and even if something happens, you can be sure that someone behind the scenes has planned for almost every possibility. Whether the ground looks half full or not I couldn't give a toss. I'm much more concerned that everyone can watch a good game of football without fear or worry. And that includes the board, management and player as well as us fans. I keep hearing about this group re Health & Safety but who are they actually and have they ever been to the ground when it has 5000 inside.

I'd say probably not delboy but it won't stop them imposing conditions that the club have to abide by sadly

Billy was right in his estimation of 6,000. If the spectators move around AND they are continuously head counted the 3,000 crowd will obviously be 6,000, simples 🤔
