A well deserved win. Not sure I’ve seen m(any) worse sides than Havant since our return to this level (but then I don’t see them all). Thought they were ordinary and seemed reliant on Kabamba and Sekajja (who they took off!). We bossed the game without creating too much of note. Craig missed a sitter first half, they got a deflected one and that was that for half time. Jonah Ayunga looks very good, excellent for the 2nd goal that earned the victory. Tommy had earlier scored a very nice equaliser and looked lively all game. There was a late long ball bombardment from the home side as you get when there is one goal in it but nothing was created bar one long ranger which Jamie repelled well. Seemed like a very poor crowd, thought they’d have a few in with Portsmouth away but not many at all. Craig missed a sitter! Gee that’s harsh. He beat the keeper and there was a fantastic clearance off the line. Can’t legislate for that

Since I started watching U's that was our 7th win in 14 matches on 15/09. 50% wins on my birthday is a better return than I thought so thanks to the team and management for obliging today.
It was a deserved victory too. A brilliant move set up Craig E but his effort was well saved by the home 'keeper. U's had further chances to score as they looked the livelier of the two teams but Kamaba's excellent improvisation gave the home side a first half lead.
Second half down the slope, not for the first time at Havant, U's dominated and a lovely pass from Kenny D enabled Tommy W to shrug off a challenge and fire home low from 18 yards. Havant rallied but failed to test Jamie B before sub Jonah A powered past two defenders to put in a fine cross which Harry B met at the far post to give U's the lead. Jonah's second assist in his last two outings.
Havant had a go late on with a lot of long high balls into the box but their best effort was well saved by Jamie B as U's saw out the match.
This was a good performance with Sutton the better team throughout. Havant had Kabamba and Sekejja as their liveliest performers but Cloughie and Dean B were a fine partnership at the back. The midfield worked hard all afternoon and Josh T was a handful with his ability to beat players. I thought Harry B had his best match so far this season while up front Ross L had a battle with Robinson and Tommy W looked sharp again.
As for our man in the middle another eccentric performance littered with inconsistency throughout. Ross L gives away a free-kick when their guy nips in from behind and when Harry B gets caught doing the same, nothing. Difference was it was in the penalty area. Huggins boots the ball away after an award of a free-kick and gets a ticking off but when Jordan does it later he gets cautioned that after Robinson brings him down on the edge of the box (injuring himself in the process) and no yellow is shown. Then the lino who lasted the 90 mins decides to get involved and Craig E and their fella get booked. What's the point? Kick someone up in the air - fine - a technical transgression and you're carded. It's bollocks. Still, we will get (indeed have had already) worse than this over the next 8 or so months, guaranteed.
Onto Boreham Wood. Always tough and Tuesday will prove no different.

And I repeat Craig’s effort beat the keeper (he didn’t even get a hand on it) and was brilliantly cleared by the defender.
Happy birthday Frakey btw. New glasses needed as a pressie 😜

New glasses needed as a pressie 😜 Was looking through people standing on the fence so partially obscured view. Actually thought Tommy's shot was going wide cos of same reason. People standing against perimeter fence. Ban them I say.

Not digging him out, I’d reckon he’d agree he should have scored and at the end made no difference to the result on this occasion! 3 points and keep us in touch at the top 👍

I'm inclined to be a bit more generous towards the opposition than some. Their goal was a very nice strike and I felt that, for the most part, Havant defended very well. It took a trademark finish from Tommy to initiate our comeback, creating space for himself before firing home from the edge of the box. For our winner, two of their defenders were caught napping by Jonah’s acceleration and his wicked low cross reaped the rewards at the far post.
A pretty good game overall, which we just about deserved to win, but, to my mind, Havant showed enough to suggest that they stand a decent chance of staying up.

I agree with you. I've seen worse sides this season. They will be fine. Virtually every cross that we made in the first half were intercepted by them rather than reach intended targets.

I counted (yes, I know....) just over 200 U's fans at the game yesterday. Great support and really appreciated by the team.

For a game of that distance certainly more than would have travelled a few years back. I guess one of our local matches these days!
