Tricky game. Slough are going well in the South but at home, naturally you'd put your money on Sutton. Very doubtful it will be televised so Saturday 10th should see a 3pm kick off.

Depends if they are doing those Sunday games again this year.

Actually you're right. As Sutton are at home to Dagenham on the 3rd (nice birthday present with a win please guys) I'm assuming Carshalton will be away that day thus meaning they will be at home on the 10th.

Can’t complain with the draw, gives us a good chance to progress. Standard caveat - it’s a tough tie etc etc. I’d say it’s a worse draw for them than us!

Given some of the ties fellow National League sides received in the draw last night we’ve got to be happy with this one. Sure - they’ll be no pushovers and will give us a game like Wealdstone did at the weekend but we have a great chance of making Round 2 for the second time in three seasons.

Hopefully we’re able to get the job done on the day - a possible replay will follow the long away game up at Gateshead.

Anyone know the last time we played Slough? Mid 90s perhaps?

Anyone know the last time we played Slough? Mid 90s perhaps? Mark will certainly know but i believe it was a Ryman Prem game in the 90's . I remember being there and if my memory serves me correctly we won. I can also remember them being in the top tier of non league football for a while

Anyone know the last time we played Slough? Mid 90s perhaps? I think we played them in our first Ryman season back after being relegated from the Conference - so 2000?! Ben Hodsons only goal for Sutton in the home game I think. Didn’t we also play Slough on the opening day of our championship winning season in 1998? Hopefully there won’t be a repeat of the 0-1 scoreline.

The last time we played each other was season 2000/1. 1-1 at your place with Hodson scoring attendance 476 4-4 at our place with Ekoku, Bolt (ex Slough) Whitmarsh x2 attendance 556

And another fact about the draw...
And of course don't forget that 30 years ago, we'd finally got rid of Walton and Hersham in a replay to set up a 1st round proper tie with fellow conference side Dagenham away in the first round. I think we all know what happened in the cup run...

At home to lower league opposition, I'm pretty happy with that draw.
Also Slough have decent support, it isn't far for them to come and we haven't played each other for years so they should bring a fair few I'd have thought.
I'd imagine they are probably not as pleased with the draw as they are away to a team from a higher league and it isn't a glamour tie.

Adam Coombes registered a brace against Slough last week for Welling.

Oh and if I've counted right, there are 6 NL sides certain to be in the draw for the 2nd round, which at least 1 of them will be from step 6 (National League South - Torquay or Woking)
