Tommy has tweeted:
Ruptured my ACL, grade 2 tear in my Lateral Collateral ligament, £50 parking ticket and broken phone all in one day👍🏻👌
Bad bad news. Hope he can recover from this

Very disappointing to lose Tommy for a few weeks, but thank goodness it's only a grade 2 tear, otherwise he'd be looking at 6-12 months out of the game, in all probability. At least we should have him back well before the year's end if all goes well, and I wish him the speediest of recoveries.
Yet another reason to despise that utter oxygen thief of a ref, C*rl Br**k, as if there weren't enough reasons already...

And I was also going to say that let’s hope when we next play a certain pretentious mob they don’t have a similar mishap, because I am sure we wouldn’t be be so uncharitable as to boo that player.

This is awful news, we won’t be seeing Tommy for a while as ACL rehab tends to be 5-6 months minimum. I had a feeling he’d done something as he was beating the turf after he went down.
Really hoping the recovery is good and we see him back before the end of the season.

Best wishes to Tommy. Bit of a blow for us in an area of the field not currently rich with reserves. We may need to be in the market for someone up top as a result.

We may need to be in the market for someone up top as a result. Yep I wonder what our strategy will be here, firstly looking at our own there’s surely a increased need for Josh Taylor to step up to the plate now. I note one of our academy graduates Kyle Henry scored a hattrick for SCR on Monday night (presumably on loan) - could he be drafted into the squad 🤔. Looking further afield a loan signing might be likely - for example the lad Tshimanga at Oxford City looks very useful.

The ref forced Tommy to walk off the field instead of allowing him to receive treatment on the pitch, did he not? I'm no medical expert, but I don't think that's advisable practice when someone's just sustained an ACL injury.

The lateral collateral ligament injury will be a grade 2 Trev with a rupture of the ACL - separate injuries.

I think you glossed over the ruptured ACL part of the message I read the ACL as a grade 2 injury, is that not correct? Trev I think people will not know the difference between Grade 1, grade 2 and grade 3. I certainly didn't and I've torn mine. Let me tell you it's not nice. I did mine when I was Tommy's age and endured 30 years of pain until I had a half knee replacement. However Tommy is a (semi) professional sportsman and there has been a huge advancement on how to treat knee injuries and his injury isn't as bad as mine, thankfully. Tommy has a grade 2 tear which, apparently, is rare. My guess is they will not know for a couple of weeks whether he needs an operation or not. Grade 3 rules you out for 9 months or more as you do need an op and ligament replacement for that. I tried to see what Kevin De Bruyne's injury was as he's now resumed training however I can find no reference to what grade it is. Obviously it's either 1 or 2. These injuries though, are hard to assess so we'll just have to wait and see. I'm sure the club will make sure he has the best rehab available.

I wasn't suggesting for one moment that a ligament tear was nice! I've been rehabbing a knee injury myself, and it's taken me, a decidedly non-professional athlete, several weeks to get anywhere near back to my original level of fitness. I'm sorry to hear about your historical injury, sounds like a nightmare..
To be honest with you jr, I didn't have a clue what a grade 2 injury was either until your post late last night - I Google'd it and established that a grade 2 is a partial tear whereas a grade 3 is a full tear - from what I gathered via t'web, a grade 2 injury takes around 2-8 weeks to recover from, whereas the far worse grade 3 injury is more in the 6-12 months region.
Anyway, thanks for clarifying that Tommy's injury is a grade 2 as opposed to a grade 3.. it appears my original interpretation of what you said was therefore correct.

No I think you’re still misunderstanding what a ruptured ACL is, that’s a season ender
