Sutton 2 Coventry 1 - slate clean. True. We can let him off for the other misdemeanours although he was nowhere near as bad as the current crop or Joe Ross

I see that the highlights on Barrow AFC's website don't include footage of our first 'goal'. They do show the second though( which looks as on-side now as it did at the time).

Footage of our first "goal". I can totally see why Dos was so angry at the end of the game with their keeper

Barrow. The blot on an otherwise beautiful landscape. Ooh! Which bits didn't you like? The wonderful Victorian public buildings? The modest price of property? (Proper houses not tiny flats) The extensive sandstone tenement buildings on Barrow Island? The wonderful maritime setting? Three fantastic seaside nature reserves? The best Cistercian Abbey in the north of England? The excellent Dock Museum? The extensive public park? The best pies in the country? ('Life of Pies' - some think other shops are even better) Miles of tremendous beaches on Walney Island, the Duddon Estuary and the Morecambe Bay parts of town? Maybe you are just hard to please? Maybe you only saw the industrial estates (this is where things are actually made) on the way in to our partly-derelict ground? Maybe you just don't know about the rest? Surely not just sore about losing?

I see that the highlights on Barrow AFC's website don't include footage of our first 'goal'. Assuming you mean the incident when the Sutton forward clattered the Barrow keeper to the floor several seconds before the ball was put in the net, they did when I watched them? Incidentally, the Azza chappie who provided the Twitter clip is a local troll who specialises in fake news and winding folk up to the point where his chums have banned him from the unofficial forum. Enjoy the rest of your season.

It's usually quite rare for the ref to have an influence on the result of the game. Certainly at Orient the previous week, for all his obvious shortcomings he didn't. But this Saturday he made two decisions that did exactly that. The 2nd goal (which I was standing in line with on the side of the pitch) wasn't anywhere close to being offside, but the first goal was a disgrace. He had a perfect view of the keeper incident, the linesman didn't flag and it was only after their keeper (who was acting like he'd been shot dead from the crowd) suddenly became Lazarus to make his point known, to which the ref and lino BOTH changed their mind. Maybe Jamie should be instructed to fall on the floor and pretend to be dead at every corner and then we'd never concede.
Saying that, we did have rather a patched up side playing, with Aswad in the centre with Clough and I think he's been on a great run of form at the moment. Another player who impressed me was Drinan who worked tirelessly (not as a striker but in his build up play). I read a couple of posts online comparing our performance to that against BW (albeit from people who were not at the game) just because we went 2 down. That does the side that played on Saturday a big injustice as it wasn't even close. We had a couple of moments of poor defending (esp the first goal which was a bit of class by their best player, no7 but we had 4 opportunities to close him down) but I don't think we need to be too harsh on a group of players who tried hard after a long journey up there.
Also good to see a slightly sozzled Tony Quinton at the game, although he did remark how everytime he comes to see Sutton now they lose. Shame that run didn't end.

Surely you can't be questioning the competence of the officials can you? (FYI I rather like Barrow)

Surely not just sore about losing? Commented on what I saw and have the other four times I have been there. Have been to The Lakes many a time and Barrow certainly wouldn't be on the agenda. Been watching U's lose for almost 50 years so used to it. Hopefully answered your questions. Not that I need to.

I didn't go on Saturday and it's not completely clear from the video but if Clough touches the ball to Davis who "scores", then Davis is in an offside position if he is ahead of the ball. Was a direct or indirect free kick given?
No idea why the second one was offside.

I got the feeling it was going to be one of those days when the home club decided not to open the away turnstiles. "It's just typical of the way this club is run" was the honest response from the youngster on the home turnstile that let me in.
We have clearly upset the Football Gods somewhere along the way as after losing the card count 6 - 0 last weekend we were on the wrong side of the Referee Raffle and Linesman Lotto once more. To have one goal disallowed is unfortunate, but to have two in the same game is almost unprecedented bad luck.
I was one of the few that conceded at the time that the first could well be offside given where the prone goalkeeper was laying having been shot by a sniper in the stands. With an attacker on the goal line, and as Shankley said if he's not interfering with play what's he doing on the pitch let alone the goal line?
Still the way the goal was given and then taken away again after a 3 way conversation between ref, linesman and opposition captain, was a complete joke. If we missed JC anywhere on Saturday it wasn't so much as at centre back it was from getting involved in that cosy chat. If the Barrow captain is allowed to a part of it then I'm sure Jamie would have had a couple of words too (as he did when the final whistle blew).
We didn't play well, but with the squad down to the bare bones there might be some reasons (not excuses) for that possibly. On to the next game and consign it to history, much like Orient did after their disappointment last weekend.
Come the end of the season, and hopefully after some of the bizarre decisions by the officials have averaged out, I'm sure we will be nearer a play off spot than our opponents, who will be closer to relegation than us. It would be premature to expect those outcomes to be decided by the time they visit us, with 12 games still to play, but it would be poetic to put a hat full of goals past their "cheating" keeper and consign them to the drop.

I don’t see them being anywhere near the drop this season. I’d actually be quite surprised if a team outside the current bottom 6 went down (I reckon Chesterfield will be ok after a change of manager, which will likely happen soon).
