For those who don't do Tweeter this was on the Sutton Twitter account: Martin Allen - Managing in the real world. linkIt appears that Mr Allen is still labouring under the delusion that he's managing a league club, in view of his comment about being in the 4th tier. We called him " Mad Dog" in his West Ham days for a reason...

...plus he wrote this for the Daily Fail, so embellishment is pretty much par for the course.

It appears that Mr Allen is still labouring under the delusion that he's managing a league club, in view of his comment about being in the 4th tier. Clearly. "But in the politest possible way, I had to challenge a question last week about 'the non-League'. I hate that expression. It's belittling. It does a disservice to the competition in a league which is of minimal difference to League Two. I see us as just the next level down, English football's League Three." Belittling to be called what you actually are? That's a massive insult to non-league football which, whether he likes it or not, includes his own team. He's basically telling them to be ashamed of who and where they are. It is not League Three because it's not part of the EFL and it can't really be any more clear cut than that. It's like telling a 17 year old they can buy a drink in a pub because there's minimal difference between being 17 and 18. And I completely fail to see how our pitch could possibly be called old-fashioned.

To paraphrase Forrest Gump, Mad Dog is as Mag Dog does.

Straight off the motorway at Reigate hill and down the A217 is hardly driving in London.

I love this : "Sutton's ground — Gander Green Lane — is 30 minutes further on when the traffic's quiet. It was another hour before we were walking through the tight little corridor and looking at the Astroturf pitch — the old-fashioned, plastic kind — which was very fast because they'd heavily watered it."Astroturf Like wasn't that sort of banned in the early 80's
