I’m looking forward to tomorrow. And Tuesday too fingers crossed (work permitting).
I think the lads will come out fighting and with the new signing or signings it will boost the squad.
No predictions as I am not hitting the mark (never won the pools)!
Team selection will be intriguing:
Ross or Jamie Nicky back? Wayne Brown starting to get used to his environment. Josh T finding his form from last season. Harry B playing and scoring (pleased for him - had a long chat on the train back home from Gateshead, real decent lad).
New signing or signings.........
It’s a great time at the club and hopefully we all get behind the players and management.

We've lost our way, haven't we? I don't mind losing as long as we have played football. Today we lost and didn't. Hoofball has become too much of a feature of our games. A lack of imagination, a loss of confidence and a fear of failure appear to have strangled the life out of this fine team. I will not moan, bitch or point fingers, just say as I see. I see dull football. I wish I didn't.

Woeful, one shot on target against a team leaking goals, team lacking in confidence and playing poorly. Two new strikers and we still end up with Clough up front disrupting a back four that were comfortably dealing with the Maidenhead threat. We all knew that Maidenhead would play the pressing game and we played the depressing hoofball game. Not sure where the next points will come from.

I think this defeat hurt more than the Cup one.
I don't recall us creating a single chance against a determined but poor Maidenhead team.Everything went through the middle making it easy for Maidenhead to stifle our attacking play which seemed to consist of us lumping the ball forward to Dundo. What happened to our exciting attacking play where we passed the ball forward and wide ? We may have changed the front two but can anyone honestly say its made any difference. When Jonah had the ball at his feet you sensed something exciting might happen and people i have spoken to today are amazed we have put him out on loan to Havant ! Our style of play needs to revert to what it was and Eastmond needs to be given licence to go forward instead of Beautyman.
With regard to our new players it was difficult to assess their potential but i thought one of them might have been a tall target man or is it the intention to use Dundo in that role?

Our poor recent record against Maidenhead continues; that's no Sutton wins in any of our last eight completed meetings (six defeats, two draws). Of more concern is the lack of Sutton goals - just three in our last six games. We know that Dos has attempted to address this by shipping out Ayunga (who naturally scored today ) and Drinan, bringing back Dundo, and recruiting McQueen and Thomas-Asante. The forward pairing of Dundo and Thomas-Asante showed some promise in the first half, without either testing the visiting keeper, and both faded in the second. McQueen made little impact when he came on in the wide right position. As mentioned above, we ended up with Cloughie moving forward to reprise his role as emergency centre forward. This was a poor game, but there are mitigating factors. Most of the Sutton players out there today endured a gruelling and dispiriting FAC replay at Slough on Tuesday. And the new players will need a bit of time to bed in; I think that McQueen is short of match fitness and fans will have to be patient to see the best of him. The goal we conceded was disappointing, a header from a free kick late in the match, giving us little time to get back on terms. The attendance was also disappointing, 1606 being our lowest for a home league game this season. With Gateshead winning today, we slip back below them to 8th.

Jonah scored twice today for H&W, strikers even good ones need service, and that has pretty much dried up from our midfield engine room. Not sure what it is but if you go back a year and watch those games, we come through the middle and out wide, very few balls just slung into the box completely bypassing the likes of Eastie etc. Bolly was a major part of that partnership last season, as of course was Wright and Ross L.
Today was not a Sutton performance, win or lose we simply don't play that type of football, the likes of JC punting it 60-70 yards, crosses from just outside the center circle is just not us. I don't care if we lose the next 5 games, but lets get the ball down and play our passing game. We haven't lost it, we are just panicking and look desperate rather than in control of proceedings..

Maidenhead are a proper bogey team. Even when they are in a rut, they can come to GGL and make us look awful.
We welcomed Brandon Thomas Asante for a debut in the starting line up, partnering the returning Dundo. It wasn't a particularly memorable debut, but he was IMO the 3rd best U's player today after the full backs. He is lively, full of running for 90 minutes. When he has worked out what sort of pass or lay-off each of his colleagues is best at converting, he will make a good contribution.
The first half was poor. Butler did have one diving full-stretch save to make, but it was from a CC back-pass. One of several today which were under-hit or wide of the recipient. As others have written we went without wingers, Wishart and Bolarinwa benched. Given that Eastmond has the free role in midfield, it would be interesting to know what instructions were given to Brown, Beautyman and Taylor. Mostly they could be seen in a flat row, none of them seemed to be supporting the front two - who needed support, since there were no wingers. B&B seemed to have no desire to carry the ball forward or beat a man. Taylor was more ambitious, but with the result he gave the ball away more often than other U's. On this evidence Kenny Davis will be welcomed back as soon as fit.
The second half was slightly better. Sutton never played attacking balls into the Collingwood turnstile corner, their left, in the first half. Which is a frequent omission, even when we have a left winger. So after the turn-around when the left flank was uphill, most of our penetrating attacks were on that side.
Still, it was looking an obvious stalemate and both teams made tactical substitutions to try and nick it. JC and CC took turns moving and staying upfield. Unfortunately they did no good at that end of the park, and their absence at the other end was a killer. The visitors' #17, Clifton, cleverly bought a free kick chasing a through ball, with Thomas in pursuit, by stopping and letting Thomas run into him. Clifton was on the end of a quality delivery to head unchallenged past Butler. SUFCTV will show who wasn't marking him.

The tactic of pulling up abruptly in front of a chasing opponent to earn a free kick is becoming prevalent and extremely irritating

Realistically now we need to get over the line with the target of 54 points. Not anticipating much more this season.

Squad is full of talent but I don’t think a single one of them at the moment could put their hand up and say they are playing at the top of their game at the moment. Whatever the reason it needs working out or we are in danger of the season petering out in a few weeks in the trophy because I think every team in the hat would fancy a pop at us.
