That was worrying. Really worrying. I don’t remember as toothless a display by any Sutton United team for, literally, decades. I feel a mixture of shock and disbelief at what was served up today. Probably best not to comment further.

Decades?
Short memory. 07/08 for a start.
Will post more fully about this afternoon once the hysteria has died down.

Well.....2007/08 was 11 years ago…..that’s more than one decade!! I was originally going to say “many years”, but I got slightly carried away!

People might laugh at this, but I reckon our lack of goals could be down to our defence?
Just 1 goal conceded from open play in over 14 hours of football, that must be a clue???

I may be a little controversial here but how many of us are actually surprised we lost today? How many times can we say we do great against the big teams in this division and then have a side near the bottom come here and do a job on us. It's happened almost every season in the last 10 years. And I would expect Braintree will do the same on Tues. But I think we've got more chance getting points at Fylde. The management and this team are great at rising to the bigger challenges but less effective at the more regular, on paper easiest opponents.
You may disagree but there's a whole lot more evidence of that than the experts who think they know the game because they had one good season on Football Manager and point the blame at individuals or go on about wrong tactics.
I'll say it now. We won't win the league and may not make the play offs but we will be in this league next year without question. And November is not the time to panic over our league status. Yet again on here and elsewhere I'm reading a lot of knee jerk rubbish. It's refreshing to have the capacity for rational and wide ranging thought but frustrating having to deal with others that done.
In Summary: crap today (as expected but after this week partially excused). Tues won't be much better. December however will be.

Sides near the bottom come to GGL and put two banks of 4 against us and invite us to break them down because we are a good team. I still expect us to make the playoffs but the likes of Leyton Orient & Salford City have huge budgets and one of them will win the league no doubt. All teams go through a blip in the season but if we pull off a decent win at Braintree confidence will return. I also am starting to think that some of our players play better on grass.

I've never been into football management games (or gaming in general) and I wasn't at the game yesterday, Andy, but for what it's worth I think you're being a little bit harsh on the posters within this thread. I wouldn't say any of the comments stray into being unacceptable, more a case of frustration, which anyone is entitled to feel and express, particularly when they've just endured the type of game they describe (again, I have no opinion of my own having not been at GGL yesterday). But without even having bothered to check FB, Twitter etc, I'd readily agree with you because the lowest, most brainless common denominators appear to be constantly present on those platforms.

Probably best not to comment further. Truro, torquay, Dover, boreham wood? All very recent. Yesterday was no better or worse performance that any of those and as Andy said not unexpected. I think we've hit the low point for the season, the team WILL respond as it always does. Of course, failing to trouble a defence with 19 goals conceded in 4 games is very worrying and I don't think pentney had a single save to make. We created nothing, first half we were just lumping balls forward like clough was there, against giant centre backs. Credit to maidenhead they stuck to their task well but we simply lacked the nous to break them down, although Josh was rightly identified as our main threat and shackled by fair or foul. I'm fairly sure that if we had stuck with the back 4 the worst we would have done is 0-0 but dos went for the gamble and it didn't come off. Fatigue and low morale clearly played a part but dos will get a response one way or another. Maybe not by Tuesday but soon enough. Asante looked very lively but you could have had Harry Kane up front yesterday but without midfield creating something the result would still have been no goals. Aswad put in some fine crosses but aside from that it was mostly long balls or sideways.

Young Brandon did try very hard to make something happen. No end product, unfortunately, but couldn’t fault his effort. Hopefully he'll get another opportunity in the starting line-up on Tuesday.

Yeah not great. Got into a scrap and couldn’t get our noses in front. There was a good 5-10 mins in 1st half when we popped it around, passed into the midfield and one move was lovely ending with a shot. As noted we’ve seen these performances before at home. We’ve obviously been spoiled overall. Not overly worried, Dos at al will fix it. These dips happen, most important time for supporters to support and stick together.

Not going to expand too much on what has already been said about yesterday.
However, whenever we face Maidenhead, I attend with trepidation as they really do have a splendid record against Sutton. Even when they have been struggling in the past they have turned us over and so it proved once more yesterday.
Having suffered heavy defeats recently, it came no surprise how they set up with the back four protected by the giant Ayo Obileye, who made Cloughie look small in comparison. He wasn't just effective in the air either and patrolled that area of midfield with considerable aplomb. It was obvious what Alan Devonshire had been concentrating on during their fortnight off from matches.
When U's did get the ball down they caused problems but with our old adversary from Wealdstone, Massey and his mate from Bristol Rovers a solid partnership, chances were at a premium.
While U's didn't play as well as could be hoped credit must be given to Maidenhead who arrived with a game plan that they executed very well and got the added bonus late on.
Would like to see the free-kick situation again as I am not sure it was a foul nor am I sure was Comley's superb delivery from where the offence took place; looked like it was taken from a more central position. They of course also hit the woodwork.
I thought U's had two reasonable shouts for a penalty in the second half. Skip was blatantly held as he tried to get onto a Cloughie header and then Craig E got in front of his man and looked to have been charged from behind. Clutching at straws, will have to see highlights to confirm (or not) if the ref erred.
Certainly he seemed to favour Comley who really should have gone in the book and if I had been there no 5, who was the first yellow card, I would have wanted to know how Magpies no 8 was allowed to get away with persistent infringement and dissent scott-free.
As for the new lads; a difficult game for both of them to shine in so we will have to wait and see how they develop. Not going to get into the Ayunga argument; will leave that to those who want to and just continue to trust in Dos et al, after all, they haven't done too bad in the past, have they?
Onto Braintree where no doubt the surface will be one of the poorer U's play on this season.

Wasn’t great by any stretch but not sure what astounded me more, the lacklustre performance or the negative support. The usual suspects on the Shoebox sounding like they’re about to combust and the miserable sods around me on the Collingwood curve at least supplied a diversion from the visual emetic.
And as for the bloke behind me who hates Josh please note slagging him off after misplaced passes by Harry, Aswad, Craig(s) etc. made you sound a bit of a fool again (I’m sure my excitable nonsense makes me sound worse).
I’m all for voicing opinions but we’re supporters aren’t we?
Looking forward to Braintree, everyone will be behind the team there.
I await being told I’m a fool.

We always lose to the crap teams so why should be expect any better? Yes - I don't understand either why we sign 2 new strikers and STILL push Clough up front.
