Top of the CCL and into the last 16 of the FA Vase (albeit a tough looking trip to Greater Manchester in a competition where home advantage counts for a great deal). I'd expect to see them competing in the pyramid next year, probably with local derbies against Staines, who really look as if they've fallen off a cliff this season. Sutton Common Rovers also looking good in CCL and would love to see them play Staines to get revenge for Ryman Play Off semi final in (I think) 2008. Also good luch Chertsey in Vase. Jeez yeah suppose it must've been, that decade went quickly. SCR only lost out to Bedfont Sports last year and they've made a decent account of themselves in Bostik South Central. Chertsey have made the QF stage in the Vase on a couple of occasions and hopefully they can get a result this time to match those achievements. Another CCL side still in the draw are Abbey Rangers who play just down the road in Addlestone.

Erm how would SCR beating Staines be revenge for us losing a play off semi over 10 years ago where we were beaten by a much better side on the day?

It was 2009 actually.
I have the same questions myself! Plus...you do know we've played Staines since then ourselves, right? And that other teams have beaten them since that time they beat us...

Would prove the point that Sutton are better than Staines now. I suppose we've played them in Conf. South but not so high profile. How did it go?

I would have thought our respective positions would be enough for that, but since you asked...
23/8/11 Sutton 1 Staines 0 5/11/11 Staines 1 Sutton 4 20/10/12 Sutton 1 Staines 2 1/12/12 Staines 1 Sutton 4 20/8/13 Sutton 4 Staines 1 28/12/13 Staines 2 Sutton 1 13/9/14 Sutton 4 Staines 2 28/2/15 Staines 0 Sutton 1
P8 W6 D0 L2 F20 A9. Happy?
Also played them in a pre season friendly in 2010 but I don't remember the result.

Play off a blip so very happy with that record. Had forgotten all about Staines until they came up as a potential CCL team.

Not quite a CCL team Dundas - Staines are currently bottom of South Prem (South) and looking at the table, no way they're going to recover as they're 18 points from safety. Meaning they go into the South Central, which is what Chertsey would be promoted into, should they win the CCL.

Still don't get why SCR beating them to a title is in any way revenge for a play off blip. Stuff and nonsense

Staines must suffer for that Play off win. Every defeat they take proves the point that they shouldn't have beaten Sutton Youth. Oh they're in the same league as Taunton then, I wonder if that's been as a fixture yet.

A win when all season they were the better team and proved so again during that game? They shouldn't have beaten Sutton Youth? I have no idea what your issue is with Staines Town themselves, but you're not helping your cause by not making any sense whatsoever.

Oh they're in the same league as Taunton then, I wonder if that's been as a fixture yet. Flogging a dead horse here. I can't tell if you're joking or not, but just in case you're not, Staines thoroughly deserved that win in 2009. They were absolutely the better side, had been knocking on the door of promotion for a few years and were by far the best of the play-off contenders. It would have been a travesty if they hadn't been promoted. It sounds like you think they should have graciously allowed Sutton to beat them for no reason other than...you personally like Sutton to do well. Which is kind of odd. That would also be cheating. Would you have wanted Sutton to win just because of cheating and then get promoted before we were ready and go straight back down again? Because if that had happened I don't think we would be doing as well as we are today. As for "Every defeat they take proves the point..." no, you can't be serious. Can you? Again I'm going to assume (hope) you're joking. It's been 10 years. Teams change over 10 years. Even the best team in the world has to lose sometimes. Do you think England being beaten by Croatia last year proved they shouldn't have won the World Cup in 1966? Also, we had pretty much hit our nadir just before that season and were just starting to pick ourselves back up. Every defeat of Staines by us since then proves if anything that Sutton have been getting better and better than we were when they deservedly beat us in the playoffs. I dunno. You come across as if you're not joking but you must be, right?

I have no idea what your issue is with Staines Town The fact that they beat Sutton in a play off and deprived us of the chance to take to the Conference South with a dodgy keeper.
