May as well use this thread as the match-thread for tonight’s game in the Surrey Senior.
Now we find ourselves reinstated into the Trophy I feel there will be a different approach to this game with no first-teamers being risked tonight (apart from maybe Worner and Williams who are both cup-tied for the Spennymoor tie).
Chertsey are continuing to go well this season where they currently top the CCL (albeit on goal difference) and they won 5-0 in the Vase on Saturday. This will be a tough test for our academy lads.

Whilst we play tonight there are two NL games on - one which could affect us directly - Gateshead V Solihull. A home win will drop us back to 7th. An away win could lift Solihull up to 3rd if Wrexham fail to beat Bromley tonight.

Interesting this one, squad has been trimmed a lot since the SCR game so not many fit players that are short of minutes. Perhaps only McQueen would fit that bracket but whether he’s risked as he looked really impressive in his Harrogate cameo is another story.

Just play the academy team in the Mickey mouse Cup. If we were out of the Trophy and wandering aimlessly in mid table, then yeah put in a decent side, but delboy sums it up brilliantly. This competition is unimportant and a distraction to other goals this season, and with a long away trip and a small first team squad, let's not play anyone from the first team unless we have to or it is in their interest i.e. match fitness to do so. |

Depends on your point of view. To me it's unimportant. And has been for many years. I'd have to agree. Always nice to win a trophy if it comes to the crunch but ultimately there's no real kudos to lifting the SSC unless you happen to be one of the more junior sides in the competition. It's basically a kickabout for everyone else. |
