I see David Beckham has bought a 10% share in Salford City More money to throw around?

At a guess - this may not be another Manc coming on board but a replacement. Neville has just bought into Oldham, and should Salford be promoted he would have to quit one of the two then Football League clubs to avoid conflict of interest.

What about managing one and part owning another, as looking like what Paul Scholes is going to be doing with both those sides?

Oh even better. I dislike the Posh & Beckham circus so i'm hoping everything goes tits up ! If and when that happens I doubt there will be many tears shed, particularly from those Salford fans who would prefer to have their original club back, playing in their true colours rather than a plastic non-league version of Man U. Apart from their a**e lickers at the BBC of course

I thought the plastic non-league version of Man. United is FC United of Manchester. But having said that, I agree with you.

I see where you're coming from and I don't pretend to be any expert on the subject but FC United seem to be supported by people with no real interest in progressing beyond where they are simply because they were sick and tired of being milked by a commercial entity whereas Salford seem to delude themselves that they're a championship club in waiting. Neville's jibe at the Accrington chairman for allegedly wanting the league to be a closed shop was laughable. But then, that's Gary Neville all over for you. A man who would cross the street for an argument. He obviously spent too much time in the company of Roy Keane.

I'm surprised there's never been a Stamford Fc or similar considered the number of peeps priced outta the Shed who used to frequent Tone's Bar. Gone but not forgotten.

Not priced out. Chelsea's League Cup Quarter Final against Bournemouth cost myself £25 and my son £12.
It's the demand that stops the fans. Too many prawn sandwich (to quote Roy Keane) munchers.

Agreed, but from my point of view the fans of any club should stick with the team through thick and thin no matter what. Regardless of any owner that comes in. Even if they are the Glaziers. Don't bother about starting a new club like Man. United fans did. I think a few Liverpool fans did the same when their owners came in and look at Liverpool now.

I have no problem with new teams starting up, if fans are disillusioned with the way their club is going. One reason for that is the 'thick and thin' thats why I go to football win some, lose some, try to be better and earn a higher standing through hard work and determination. Its called sport.
Salford City used to be a proper little club, with its small band of dedicated fans, volunteers and unpaid board members etc. A win was a true win, and success born out of effort. Just like Chelsea, Man City, that has been stolen from those that truly loved their club. These clubs can put as many trophies as you like in the cabinet, but would not have earned a single one, they just bought them.
That is why fans sometimes walk away and start again.

Have to agree to disagree on that point VCLXI - if you don't agree with the regime in charge of your club then why would you fund the very people whose administration you oppose? E.g if you were a Blackpool fan, would you honestly want to give the Oystons a penny of your hard earned money? Because the more that do, the longer they'll stay and the more terminal the decline will be.

Think we'll just have to agree to disagree! I just couldn't turn my back on a club I support.
I know Blackpool were in the Premier League a few years ago but they played Arsenal in the 3rd round of the cup. Stadium was basically empty and that can't help the players.
Every Sutton supporter can testify how much it means playing a side like Arsenal.

Every Sutton supporter can testify how much it means playing a side like Arsenal. Think you're missing the point here - you can't possibly compare a club like Sutton, where, mainly, everybody is united from board, manager, team to the supporters, to a club that's been bled dry by a parasitic family who are happy to issue libel writs and bankrupt supporters for expressing their frustration. Add a convicted rapist (step forward Owen Oyston) into the mix and no, I wouldn't pour water on them if they were on fire, let alone bankroll their St Lucian account.
