Much better today. A real threat about us. Deacon and Toure both looked good. A nice watch. It’s obviously helpful to the game when the opposition try to play and clearly Hartlepool came to do that. Our defence did try to gift them a couple 1st half unusually for us with 3/4 stray passes/clearances that could have been punished. Ross made some good saves but also had a couple of wobbly moments.
Having gone 2 in front we should of course see the game out and I’m sure we would have done comfortably without their fluke 1st. That goal gave them some impetus and they could easily have gone on and won the game.
Overall a draw not a disaster and Hartlepool weren’t undeserving of a point. Much prefer to watch a game like that than most I have seen this season. I think with a few players now back we look strong and I don’t think we’ll be as generous with gifting chances again this season!

2-2, but it might easily have ended 4-5! Yes, disappointing to throw away a 2-0 lead, but, after a slow start, Hartlepool created enough chances to deserve something from the game.
We set up with what looked like a 4-3-3, Deacon, Touré and Bolarinwa forming an attacking trident. Roarie gave us the half-time lead with his first goal since returning to Sutton, a cool finish after latching on to an astute ball from Craig Eastmond. But Pools came close from a couple of first-half corners, and were then denied by a Worner save, Collins clearing the follow-up off the line.
Into the second half, and visiting keeper Loach brilliantly denied Beautyman, but shortly afterwards a deflected volley from Touré put us two up.
It was good to see Aswad back at left back, but his recent lay-off has left him short of match sharpness, and it was notable how Pools had increasing joy attacking us down our left flank. Their first goal though came from the other side, an apparent mis-hit cross-cum-shot from their full back looping over Worner into the far corner. Their equaliser came from our left after we'd spurned two or three opportunities to clear the ball.
We ended the game with Eastmond at right back after Dale Bennett took a high-velocity tumble over the perimeter fence at the Collingwood Road end. Some of us might then have been thankful for the point.
The current top six all won today. We stay 9th.

Attacking wise we created a lot more today and kept the pool keeper busy. Defensively we were unusually sloppy especially in the 1st half. Shame Gime's overhead didn't go in would have been a GOTS contender, although he did promise me he would score today, and so he did Great to see Roarie back in his old role, he is so much more dangerous drifting to the center then he is on the wing. Eastie had a bit of a match to forget today, his touch wasn't the best today. Good to see Aswad back. Hope Dale is OK he took one heck of a tumble, in truth their No6 didn't do too much wrong. Our nemesis today was at 2-0 up we gave Pool the freedom of the flanks, we were far too narrow and slow to get out to their wingers, one goal coming from raids down each wing. Like a rugby match, they always seemed to have one over who we just didn't pickup. Playoffs still quite plausible, big game Tuesday, get something at Salford and we will be on our way again..

An entertaining afternoon at the KCS helped by visitors who came to attack and a good refereeing performance too. Once again it was windy, almost replicating conditions up at Hartlepool back in October and that did play some part in how this rather strange fixture panned out.
Strange because U's could have been three goals adrift at the interval but instead went in 1-0 up thanks to Roarie's break from Craig E's ball and fine finish. Early in the second U's had all the pressure Harry B bringing out one fantastic save by the 'keeper who I think is up their with the best the NL can offer before Gime's deflected shot put U's in temporary charge. There were other chances too in the second half with Loach thwarting Roarie in a one on and one and fine defending preventing the follow up ending up in the net and later, a superb tackle to rob Harry B as he looked to poke home.
However, a bit of a fluke of a goal (the guy's reaction to scoring suggests it was a cross) got 'Pool back in the match and the second was coming well before it arrived; the impressive James celebrating his England C call up with the equaliser.
2-0 up you'd hope to see the match at but can't begrudge the visitors the point especially after that first half.
Probably the best refereeing performance we have seen at KCS in the NL this season. Bookings correct, that back pass decision in the first half was excellent. Perhaps Gime T could have had a first half pen decision go his way but not clear cut from my good vantage point - not every collision is a foul - seen them given though.
Just hope Dale B and Gime are ok after those late departures. Dale really must have been shaken up after clearing the perimeter fence at some pace.
Delboy must have been confident of breaking his duck early in the second half but his minor vanity project marches on.
On to Salford who ended a poor run yesterday and I need not state how tough this midweek fixture will be. Ooh did I just say it will be tough?

Perhaps Gime T could have had a first half pen decision go his way but not clear cut from my good vantage point - not every collision is a foul - seen them given though. It was definitely a foul, think the defender had a combination of Gimé's shirt in one hand and the other around his waist. However, he was also comfortably offside. I was stood pretty much in line with it, as was the referee's assistant - quite how he didn't spot it despite being perfectly placed, I'll never know, one of the easier offside calls to give, I'd have thought.
