Saw John Terry in Oxshott today. Although a long shot would he be the 4th England international to manage a national league side? That's because he lives there. I hope this doesn't turn into an AFC Wimbledon thread

This is a pivotal and directional appointment for the club. One that is moving forward needs to get a manager who has achieved at this level or above. The new manager needs to bring his own energy and vision with him, he cannot be just a manager doing the circuit.
This club has only achieved its position through the vision of one man his passion and determination, which was infectious. He bought others on board and sold them a dream, we believed so we followed. Its been damn hard work at this club for the last (enjoyable) 11 years, but to continue that you have to have a dream to put all that effort into.
I will be honest and say not a single name mentioned in this thread comes close to filling Dos's boots.

Not sure anyone could truly fill those boots because what Dos brought to Sutton was unique. Presumably the new manager will be paid, and we can't expect him to step outside that managerial role to anything like the extent that Dos has. Just saying that because maybe we need to manage our expectations a bit. We've got a good board that makes sound decisions. Whoever is appointed, let's give them a chance. We'll never know what they might achieve with us in the future unless we do.

I agree, but its now up to the board to sell that dream, as you say cannot expect a new manager to do what Dos did, but if we are going to move forward or even maintain our present level someone will have to step up to the plate.
The board made the decision to bring Dos in, and that was a wonder stroke, and then could sit back and let him lead the show, its now up to them to do that.
I am not saying they can't or won't, only that the ball is in their court.

I’m not sure I’ve seen much evidence of the Board sitting back and letting Dos run the show. That’s rather insulting to the work and effort that the members of the Board put in. This club had great success before Dos arrived - who do you suggest should take the credit for that?

Think you're right but I expect os was taking purely on the football management side where he was given a lot of freedom if that makes sense!

I hope not too soon so the board can interview the shortlisted candidates!

The board will do their best to make the right appointment using their knowledge and experience, at the budget we can afford. You seem to suggest that this is an exact science and as long as our board shapes up it's a piece of piss. Maybe have a think back to the period between John Rains and Dos for all the well intentioned appointments that didn't exactly go to plan.
