The result was all-important - we can argue about the officials' decisions, but let's not forget that Craig Dundas received a rather harsh red card at Lowestoft in October. And today another ref might have sent off their keeper for the penalty incident and not shown a second yellow to Andy Forbes for over-celebrating his second goal. Each side had an effort disallowed for offside. All things considered, I don't think Lowestoft can complain that we were unreasonably favoured over the two games.
This was a pivotal match, in which the red card was a pivotal moment. Until then we were in control and playing some of our best football of the season, with the firmer pitch favouring our preferred passing game. Leroy Griffiths looks an astute signing, even at 34, and some of his touches look far too good for the Ryman League! As has been noted before, the swapping of our right-sided defenders seems to have strengthened our back line, with Kes more comfortable at centre-back and Downer better able to advance down the wing and cross the ball. Lowestoft looked surprisingly jittery at the back, and we were well worth our 2-0 lead early in the second half. But once we went down to ten men the advantage shifted decisvely to the visitors. They soon got a goal back with a deflected shot and then won what seemed an endless string of corners. We did have the occasional chance on the break, with Griffiths squandering a great opportunity to score our third. Fortunately our defence held firm.
With other results mostly helpful to us, we stay eight point clear and have increased our lead over both Lowestoft and Tonbridge.

Another decent performance from the U's today. 1st half we were all over them like a bad rash, got a deserved lead from the spot. Good to see Forbes taking and scoring it from the same end he missed against Croydon. 2nd half, classic backs to wall stuff after the controversial sending-off, following the 2nd goal. But despite letting Lowestoft back into the game, we held on and could of made it 3-1 when Leroy hit a shot and the resultant rebound against the 'keeper.
Dundas was immense again. As was Leroy. And Page. And the rest of the team.
The officials. What a joke. 1st half the linesman on the stand side gives an offside against Jennie. A flipping giraffe. And his counterpart was a wet sponge in the 2nd half missing one or two clear fouls right in front of him. As for the ref, what a cretin. Sent-off Forbes for 2 silly bookings yet missed a number of fouls by Lowestoft. And in the end getting in Dundos way as he was attempting to break which led to Lowestoft nearly getting an equaliser.
Shocked to hear about the racist incident. The Lowestoft fans all seemed like top guys before hand. But our support was immense today.

Great result today and thanks to the Tweets I could keep up with the game while driving from Kingston to Negril. Lovely and warm here oddly enough!

For the first 53 mins of yesteday's game, there was only going to be one winner & having gone 2 up I reckon we may have scored another but for one of the worst piecs of refereeing I've seen at a nl football match, ever.
If Mr Spain is to use the letter of the law then their 'keeper had to go in the first half as he prevented an obvious goalscoring opportunity Billy, your statement is a complete contradiction & therefore total bollocks. And as for garethl, I loved to know what your agenda is mate 'cos your so out of tune.
As KBB asks why not book all the others, in fact, if memory serves me correct it was Dundo who went behind the goal first after setting up the chance. Not once did the ref try to stop the players by blowing his whistle or running over to pull tem away. He was looking for it & having correctly cautioed Forbesy for a foul he (the ref) saw red & meted out a severe punishment.
After that it was all hands to the pump & where with 11 U's attacking play was outstanding with 10 their defending was probably even better.
Dundo will rightly get alot of the plaudits but once again this was a magnificent all round team performance.
As for the twit of a LT fan at the end makng comments about visas to certain U's players, their club need to grab him to one side & have a serious discussion with him so as not to stain their whole club with an unwanted mark.
A great day to be a U's fan and it could have been even better but for a referee who really needs to have a look at himself and how to apply the laws of the game consistently.
Well done again lads onto another toughy at Hendon.

Yes, shouting out to Sutton players that they require visas is not in itself racist but thoroughly reprehensible.I'm guessing that his frustration at losing got the better of him.

Looking at the state of him, I think drink may have been a contributing factor.

Looking at the state of him, I think drink may have been a contributing factor. I think this definitely the answer, coupled with disappointment at the disallowed 'goal' I don't think I've ever heard him say anything racist before. Anyway, thanks for a great welcome at the ground. There was a good atmosphere, both sets of fans up for making a noise and getting behind their team. Emotions will always run high at games like this, but to everyone's credit we're all able to have a chat and shake hands in the bar afterwards. I'm pretty certain you deserved to win, and we were struggling to get into the game until the sending-off. Your number 9 was a handful all game. Good luck for the rest of the season, but especially at Tonbridge next week.

Not quite sure what you mean Mr Frake. I have no agenda. Am a Sutton fan of many years (though for age reasons not nearly as long as you!) and am absolutely delighted with where we find ourselves! I would just like to see us end one of these clashes with the full complement of players.

And by the way how can the visa comment not be construed as racist!!

If Mr Spain is to use the letter of the law then their 'keeper had to go. For the record, Frakey, I don't think the referee was Mr Spain. He was named in the programme but the team sheet showed S Rubery as the ref. We wouldn't want to malign the wrong man.

Hi Guys, just wanted to jump in on your forum & have my say.. lets get rid of the ugly stuff first. Remarks have been passed on here regarding our supporters club chairman, personally knowing the chap i can assure you IF any comments came from him that some of you are talking of this is totally out of character, he is a long standing football supporter who works hard for our club, and loves his football. In no way am i defending him as IF he did say such things (which id like to point out i did not hear) then he deserves to be punished, and if this is the case i expect our clubs will take the matter up if it becomes official however for now i can only apologize on his behalf if any upset was caused to your players or fans who felt he overstepped the mark. As for the guy at the end who stood inside the closed gates and attempted to get to the match officials, as much as i agree this was unacceptable, im sorry but your own stewards could have avoided that. Firstly this is the same guy who only moments before (with our disallowed goal) was on the pitch, so in my opinion (as a football steward myself) he should have already been on there radar, secondly i stood at the gate after FT and knowing how fired up this supporter was i attempted to tell one of your own stewards that this chap shouldn't of been in there & tried to explain why, only to be cut short & told to 'shut up' and to 'get off His gate' so i feel a little lesson in being abit my pro-active is needed with your guys.. Its also a crying shame that a club such as yours didnt supply our players with hot food after the match, a singly tray of dried up sandwiches im sorry just isnt good enough at this level. Those of you who travelled to us would have seen we provide a good hot meal for players after each game, which i feel should be the case wherever you go, surely even if it was a bag of chips and a few sausages, this isnt much to expect for the players is it ? Anyway enough of that, on to the game. Regardless what some of you felt about us, i found everyone of your supporters i spoke to a nice bunch (even the guy in the toilet at HT who wished us luck in the play-off's lol) I felt like you guys you had the far better 1st half, and maybe should have gone in at HT with more than that 1 goal lead, however one thing you learn as a Trawlerboy we never say never till that final whistle, and i'll be honest i felt we'd come out 2nd half and turn things around. I felt we played alot better 2nd half, and deserved the draw at least. Again we saw the 3 men in black make some awful decisions, and as for our disallowed goal, well what can i say, apart from that linesman got it wrong!! he knows it, and im sure a few of you do also, but hay-ho thats life. As for your guy being show the red, i can only assume as he had been shown a yellow shortly before (which im sorry to say but i felt should have been a red ) he was still fresh in the refs mind, it doesnt make it right i know, but as one of your supporters was telling me in the bar after the game this isnt the 1st time this kind of thing has happened at your club, so sadly the players should know better. Anyway thats me done, thanks for the warm welcome we received i wish you all the best for the rest of the season, i will just point out (Mainly to the chap who wished us luck in the play off) if we go on and win our games in hand over you guys that brings us only 4 points behind you, so my friend please dont start singing along with that fat lady just yet

When this was noticed, the stewards dealt with it. Just took them a while to spot the offence.
