Thought it was a good game. We were all over them until the Forbes red card which was just ridiculous. Got a little shaky at them end but well done to the lads for holding on.

Firstly, well done to the lads. Great first half in which we were well worth the lead. Then came the sending off. How ridiculous is it that a player can't celebrate a goal with the supporters. I can (just) understand it in the premier league but this is non league , get some perspective. That could have cost us the game. Still a great result despite the small minded officialdom. Strange because I didn't think the ref had too bad a game other than that.

He knows the rules. They apply to all levels. Daft. You can't rely on referees to show 'common senses'! That's 3 games vs Bury and Lowestoft twice where we have been reduced to 10 men. We got the result today but it would be nice to keep the full 11 on in these games!

If that is the case, why were the other 4 or 5 players celebrating with him not show yellow cards ?

I didn't actually see the celebration (I was celebrating myself!). What did Forbesy do?
Very good performance I thought. Dundas is magical atm. We're bossing the league table and are the only team to have averaged over 2 points a game so far.
Also, I noticed that after about 10 minutes, the red balls were removed. Were they rubbish?

Well another little rollercoaster ride for us today. But the result was a fair result over 90mins. Before I go into more detail, it was yet another game where Sutton played well for the whole 90mins, like against Cray last weekend.
First half was mostly us as we piled on the pressure against the best defence in the league. Mind you, not that Lowestoft looked it - there's no doubt they have a strong defence, but the confidence crisis they are having at the moment really showed. We seemed to make opportunity after opportunity and one of those caused the keeper to bring down Dundas when he was clear on goal. Certain penalty, but the keeper gets only a yellow - now i'm sure there are better ref's than me out there, but to me it was a clear denial of a goalscoring opportunity, and therefore the keeper deserved a red. But it didnt happen. Luckily Forbes dispached with the minimum of fuss.
2nd half more of the same, and the inveitable 2nd goal comes along, again, set up by Dundo and tapped in by Forbes, who was obviously overjoyed. He has been booked a couple mins earlier for a tackle from behind (which from where I looked at it may have been a little harsh, as to me he cleanly got the ball) but as he ran over to our fans, a small selection of them grabbed him and didnt let him go. That was enough for the ref to get out a 2nd yellow and send him off. To those fans, well done, you've managed to give the ref an excuse to make a poor decision. Prats.
It was only that point where Lowestoft started to hit back, got a goal which took a wicked deflection off Sam i think, and then they were piling everyone forward, and a couple of times we nearly caught them on the break, Leroy having one of the best of those chances.
Lowestoft did get the ball in the net again. Sadly it was a few seconds after the lino had raised his flag for offside. One Lowestoft fan was already on the pitch either to celebrate or run and have a go at the ref - gladly he did neither.
Some certain squeaky bum moments near the end, but we recorded our 5th win on the trot against a team who have only lost 4 this season (albeit 2 of those happening within 2 miles of each other in the same week!). There were a few idiotic away fans who felt we robbed them and decided to be a bit stupid in the bar or shout out some rather offensive comments towards our team and officials at the end. I'm sorry, but there is no way Lowestoft deserved anything higher than a draw today, were lucky to have their keeper on the pitch and needed a stupid sending off of ours to compete. That disappointed me as the majority of supporters I met up there in October were great.
3 points is 3 points, and with other results going in a weird way (Croydon beating Tonbridge 2-0??!??!) it was a big three points. More of the same at Hendon on Wednesday please...
It was also good to see Jolly netting another 2 today for Wealdstone.
MoM today - Dundas - every time he was involved, it was great (and this included his defensive work today as well as making 2 goals). Honourable mention for Leroy too - the man is class!

Shaking a few hands is not 'going into the crowd'. A ridiculous decision by the ref but Dos needs to have a word and insist that no player goes further towards us than level with the back of the net - perhaps we can get the groundsman to draw a line as an ‘aide-memoire’? (This is an unusually serious suggestion by my standards, but needs taking on board by someone)

Well a fantastic day in the end: Sutton 2 Lowestoft 0 Referee 1 is the only way I can describe the result! Lowestoft showed absolutely nothing until Forbes was sent off ridiculously and 0-2 flattered them. We put in 2 superb performance today, firstly before the sending off we bossed the game from the off, Lowestoft could not get out with their only glimmers long balls which may have fallen kindly for them being their only scraps. Then cannot be any argument for their keeper not to have been sent off, he was the last man and Dundo only had to slide the ball into a empty net, covering defenders or not! 1-0 at HT was a bit of a travesty, oh we hot the crossbar too in that first half, and when Andy doubled our lead justice was served. However there followed a massive injustice as the ref showed a second yellow to Forbes for celebrating. The ref should take a good look at himself for that decision as not only did it change the game but also goes deeply against the spirit of the game? From then on the ref gave us nothing and allowed some flying tackles from Lowestoft to go unpunished which gave the green light to them that anything goes and basically the ref had lost control with about 15mins to go. I think out second half back against the wall performance was as superb as the first half but in truth I think it was more nerves with us then anything. No question we deserved the win and although nail biting towards the end Lowestoft ran out of ideas in the last 15mins. No MOTM as everyone was brilliant from Kev to Forbes. Oh we are getting close now Andy K: Just seen your comments on those holding Forbes, I think you are being as harsh on them as the ref was on him If Lowestoft think they deserved anything from the game they should visit specsavers!!!

Might as well give Craig the PoY trophy now. Goal of the season on Tuesday, then in one of the biggest matches of the season he makes 2 goals then puts in an awesome shift in midfield when we went down to 10. Having said that, it was a great performance in a number of great performances; Kes, Simon and Sam splendid at the back, the two Toms terrific in the middle, and can you think of anyone better than Leroy to play as lone striker? Outnumbered 3 to 1, he still terrified them and could have had a couple. If I've left anyone out, including the subs, its only because they played merely very well!

If we giving out PoY's now then it's got to go to Kev Scrivens - We'd be nowhere near this position if it wasn't for him.

First post on forum as a relatively new U's fan. Thought today's match was a stunner-very good play by our lads in the first half. Thought that some of the LTFC fans let their club down at the tunnel at the end with a lot of racist abuse against our lads and aggression towards the ref and linesmen. Was I the only one whose afternoon was marred by that?

Thought that some of the LTFC fans let their club down at the tunnel at the end with a lot of racist abuse against our lads and aggression towards the ref and linesmen. Was I the only one whose afternoon was marred by that? Not the only one. I asked one racist chanter why, his excuse was "he cheated." I was told by a LT fan that the man in question was the Chair of their Supporters' Club. Absolute disgrace and tarring a bunch of fun, atmosphere assisting supporters with his behaviour. My blood is boiling.
