No complaints from me, best team by a country mile won, good noise and great game, if you listen to our managers post match interview he firmly believes you'll be champions. Sending off was all a bit silly but I guess the ref was trying to give us a chance.
Also I'd just like to openly apologise, and I hope he reads this, to the Sutton fan who I told to shut up in response to his close quarters chant of "2-0 in your own backyard" No need for me to react in the way I did and no excuse offered other than the frustration of going 2 down, apologies.
Not sure whether you guys are picking it up but a lot of credit is being given by Maidstone fans to you and your team and a lot of respect being shown.
All the best, now finish the job.

Thanks! Thought your chaps were very gracious in defeat, including Lee Worgan who actually applauded our fans!
I didn't get a good view of the Amankwaah incident, but I wouldn't be hasty in saying he let us down without seeing footage of the incident. I don't believe he did.

Thanks for the kind message. That's the best we've played this season although we have been pretty good since 7 November anyway. Your fans are a decent bunch, unlike some clubs in this league! Would be great if we win the league and you go up via the playoffs. You'll need t expand the stadium tough although there isn't much room Great set up though.

Oddly enough our chairman has submitted a further planning application today to expand the ground.
Think most of our fans simply appreciate when we have been beaten by a far better side, you blew us away in the opening 15mins and then managed the game brilliantly. Best team we have played and no shame in losing to you at all.
This time 5 years ago we were being smashed by Hastings in front of 200 people at our temporary home in Ashford, to lose to a famous non league team in front of 3,000 people was just a pipe dream for me then. Superb atmosphere tonight, for a Tuesday night as well.

In the words of Kate Bush "Wow wow wow wow....unbelievable". Well actually that last word is probably quite harsh now. Now it's totally believable.
Such a stunning performance from the side as a whole. Every player was fantastic tonight, but I thought Nicky Bailey was out of this world.
Total credit to maidstone and their supporters in particular. Dignity in the face of defeat. I'm sure the club realise they're a great bunch.
But in summary. Wow...just wow...

I haven't had to complain about stewarding since the dark days of Woking, as (quite rightly) they normally disappear into the background. I think we are an easy club for stewards to 'police' at away grounds. We are normally very vocal, and although often pissed, we are nice drunks. In the main the Maidstone guys were efficient and knowledgeable in the way that they dealt with an unusually large crowd, however there was one individual who was nasty and belligerent right from the start and who seemed set on ruining the spectacle for as many people as possible. Perhaps Maidstone officials can consider keeping him away from visiting fans in future - I'm sure they know who he is...

Not sure it was unusually large, just more away fans there than normal....out of interest how many do you think you had?

I have to say that this was a performance worthy of champions. 2-0 up inside ten minutes against the side who started the game in 2nd place, we then held on to the lead for almost three-quarters of the match with ten men.
Unbeaten in the league since 7 November, and having only dropped two points on our travels since, we still faced a big test at the Gallagher. We set up with Nicky Bailey as an extra man in central midfield, Wish and Tombo in the wide positions and Dundo up top. Within two minutes Wish was given too much space by the Maidstone right-back and cut in to score. Seven minutes later it was 2-0 as Craig Eastmond swept home the second. In between the home side had struck our goal-frame from one of Alex Flisher's long throws, but that was as close they came until the 88th minute when what looked like an intended cross from Vas Karagiannis flew past Ross W and into the net. For the final 65 minutes, following Kevin A's red card, the players defended tirelessly - all deserve credit, but special mention for Nicky B who dropped deep to snuff out several home attacks, and to Worns for his calm handling under pressure.
We now know that wins against Margate and Stortford would mean we'd move above Ebbsfleet by the time they come calling in ten days' time.

I thought that Maidstone were our equal's up until Kevin's sending off, and it could easily have been 2-2. Perhaps it was the thought that we had been cheated out of the level playing field that caused our guys to up their game to a level that defied belief, but we were truly awesome from that point on.

I thought Maidstone were disappointing considering they were 2nd in the league and at home in front of a large crowd. I think the reason for that is because we had our game plan spot on and blew them away within 10 minutes.
Even with 10 men we looked the more threatening side and didn't look under as much pressure as we should have been. They didn't really have any attacking threat and we deserved our win.
However, this result will mean nothing unless we keep our concentration and performance levels high in the next few games.
I hope we can do it.

I listened in to the commentary after finishing work and just want to add my congrats to the team, the management and the fans. I take a lot of stick at work for supporting a non league side, but it's funny how they all seem to tell me how Sutton got on. As far as I'm concerned you can keep your Premier League, it's nights like tonight that make all the travelling, all the poor refereeing decisions and all the points dropped in the final few minutes a distant memory. I know we've won nothing yet, but I think a few Ebbsfleet fans might be feeling a little nervous. Also what a pleasure to read some of the comments from Maidstone's fans, what a difference from Wealdstone's sourness. Great result, great football club, great fans! Let's do this!!!!

Agree with you jencor... Some very kind comments on the Maidstone forum, and directed at me/us on the way out. Very different from the experience of leaving Gravesend & N's abode.

I did have to laugh when some Maidstone fans went "who?!" after we'd done the Nicky Bailey chant. I'm actually not sure if they were joking or not but in my opinion Nicky spent the entire match showing why he's played for so many league clubs. Possibly the most collected, professional performance I've ever seen in a Sutton shirt.
