Particularly liked this tweet. Ebbsfleet fans are cracking up! How dare we celebrate an important goal!

It must be very gratifying for Dos to have his judgement vindicated in bringing Nicky Bailey on board in January. There was always a risk of upsetting a pretty stable apple cart, but in games like this he's clearly worth his weight in gold. That stable apple cart has now been transformed into some kind of raging juggernaut! (and hopefully an unstoppable one).

Particularly liked this tweet. Ebbsfleet fans are cracking up! How dare we celebrate an important goal! Indeed - but imagine what they'd have said if we hadn't reacted as we did! "Sutton's away support is so pathetic, they scored what could be the most important goal of their season and hardly made any noise!" Some people have no sense of perspective.

You'll never please everyone, I don't bother. 'I can only please one person a day; today's not your day and tomorrow doesn't look good either.'

Exactly. Especially a certain type of football fan, who are so narrow-minded they can only see anything from the perspective of their own team. No point trying to reason with that sort of intelligence.

A perfect example to why the Maidstone fans reactions after the game was dignified and refreshing. You don't get that very often in football, and I hope they go up (along with us of course) to play at a higher level next season.

Would also mean Ebbsfleet didn't go up, would it be narrow minded to enjoy that notion?

Is that referring to my post? If so, I'm not sure if you're deliberately misunderstanding me!

My belated observations on last night.
What an absolutely brilliant effort from the players and indeed the management in getting their tactics, formation and personnel right from the start and during the match.
Had we kept the full 11 on the pitch throughout I am in no doubt that this would have ended up in an emphatic score line in U's favour. Two super goals from Dan W and Craig E. As it was, the performance was emphatic enough with the defence, Ross W and the midfield outstanding across the pitch. First Dundo and latterly Fitch worked hard to press their defenders when they had the ball and the result was as deserving as it was important in the scheme of this season.
Maidstone relied far too much on the long throw and why it certainly is a tremendous weapon they will need a little more than that coming up against the top teams in the division.
To the red card. Well, Kev was provoked into that and while Worgan may have been well meaning in his actions initially, he protracted his efforts for too long and should really have been shaping up to take a goal kick rather than concerning himself with Kev. Minutes before, Kev had been shunted out of play by an opponent and got up clutching his groin area. Having been the victim of what I thought was a foul he may well have felt that again and was taking his time to get to his feet when Worgan intervened.
The 'keeper's reaction was pathetic and while it looks like he was caught on the chin it wasn't a heavy blow. Disappointed with the ref and lino who could / should have intervened before it developed in the way it did. Why do opponents feel they have a right to get a player to his feet? It was a goal kick and tbh, Worgan could have started the match again leaving Kev where he was. It is up to the ref to deal with these situations not opposition players.
It was out of character for Worgan though. He has been down the years an affable 'keeper and I noticed him appear to applaud Ross W on a number of occasions towards the end of the game when the Sutton 'keeper showed outstanding handling. That said, Kev has no previous either. All a bit bizarre.
Obviously the possibility of losing 3 points may have taken the edge off last night but as Dos said we will probably need to win all our games anyway and so it is onto Margate (also under a points deduction charge). Like Wealdstone this is a ground where we have never beaten the current occupants, so another first required. After the gargantuan efforts of last night let's not blow this one.

This would be from a fan of a club whose supporters rely on aimlessly banging a drum to make some noise. Now, that it is pathetic.

Can't we currently win the league even allowing for losing a game and drawing with Ebbsfleet (presuming goal difference stays superior). Or alternatively losing to Ebbsfleet and winning the rest. A loss of 3 points would mean a slip up most likely no longer affordable. Oh well what will be will be. Still a lot to play for no matter what.

Our max points currently is 90 which would leave Ebbsfleet on 84 (as we would have beaten them!). Remove the points and that would give us 87. A draw with Ebbsfleet would give us 85 and 'Fleet 85 so GD would come into play. Also Maidstone could get 85 although their GD is woeful in comparison to U's and 'Fleet.
If 'Fleet beat us they would give them 87 and with a points deduction leave us on 84.
This is assuming no one drops points against any other team.
I think!

As things stand, three wins and two draws is the maximum we need to claim the title - that would give us 86 points which neither Ebbsfleet nor Maidstone could reach.
In the event of a three-point deduction it's possible that we'd need to win all five to finish top, although four wins plus a draw aganst Ebbsfleet would be enough provided we retain the better goal difference if finishing level on points.
Of course, if Ebbsfleet and Maidstone drop points in their remaining games then our task becomes easier.

As a stones fan I was if course gutted with the result last night but to be honest - the score flattered us. Sutton were outstanding - the front two especially were class. The sending off was right in front of me and it was nonsense. Very disappointing from Worgs - expect to see that reaction in the champions league - not level 6. It was not an elbow. Other than that actually thought officials were ok. Sincerely hope you go up automatically as I do NOT fancy coming up against Sutton in the play offs.
