What annoys me most about this is it's all to appease the lowest common denominator. The panic buyers who've already emptied the shelves of handwash and toilet rolls. The same people who buy up all the milk and bread if 1mm of snow falls. If only we could manufacture a pandemic that targets the stupid. Get rid of the oxygen thieves and make more space for the rest of us. Whilst I understand your anger as many do, I do think the last part of your post is inappropriate. As Del said at the top, please play nicely. Fair enough Andy. But yes you're right, I'm angry. My dad is 76 and has had a prolapsed lung, has mild respiratory issues and is also on medication for his heart and even he is very pragmatic about the whole situation i.e. it's not going to stop him living his life. The opposite side of that coin are people my age (42) and significantly younger, behaving as if the four horsemen of the apocolypse are on the horizon. A complete lack of perspective.

I see the coronavirus has already mutated according to the title of the thread. If the number of people allowed to gather at sporting events is restricted at some point in the future will season ticket holders get priority?

If it mutates further and becomes the carnevirus will it start eating people? Perhaps we should spin that one out on social media, I think that fishing expedition would reel a few (thousand) in!

I just loved medwaysider’s quote about the panic buying of toilet rolls . How long before people start to steal them from service station toilets and the like ? Perhaps for our next couple of home matches we should have security keeping an eye on the rolls in the clubs loos ?
On a serious note I do hope that your Dad stays well , I really like his attitude . My parents are both gone now but we’re extremely passionate Sutton United supporters and both smoked like chimneys . They were not concerned about the effects of their smoking on their health but went in to meltdown after salmonella in eggs hit the headlines and refused to eat eggs for absolutely years afterwards . Same for beef and mad cows disease . I shudder to think how they would have reacted to coronavirus ! Probably would have started by nicking the clubs loo rolls !

Mikel Arteta has tested positive for Corona Virus, this after his probable exposure to Olympiakos owner Evangelos Marinakis. That means Arsenal games are off and the training ground shut for deep cleaning. I amazed the Wolves match went ahead tonight.
Maybe I was too early with my post on Sunday, but I do think the writing is on the wall for sporting events and large events in general. Yes the clubs have to do what the powers that be say, and no its not my decision, but I can see football grinding itself to a halt as more and more get the virus. We cannot have a match if the players get this thing, I mean would you want us to play with a weakened team anyway?
The situation is going to move very fast, I would not even like to guess past tomorrow when it comes to measures being put in place.

We all have different opinions. I'd rather my parents and in-laws stayed out of harms way for the foreseeable future. I'd call that sensible precautions rather than any sort of hysteria or panic. I can't be blasé about potential loss of life. I'd rather the kids had their grandparents around for as long as possible. This is a very dangerous illness for older people particularly and it will start hitting home as individuals start being affected directly.

Premier League and EFL suspended until 4th April. As it stands National League games will go ahead.

This is a very dangerous illness for older people particularly and it will start hitting home as individuals start being affected directly. The problem with that is, unless the elderly and those with underlying illnesses completely isolate from everyone, including their loved ones, we're all still working, shopping and generally moving about, so it won't actually prevent what it's hoped to prevent. That's why it demonstrates, in my opinion, a lack of perspective. It's an attempt to be seen to be doing something, with the full knowledge that it won't ultimately make a shred of difference.
