Are you more likely to catch Covid19 in a pub than at GGL or any other NPL game because I don’t see any pubs being closed. Just saying.

Criminal? You're surely having a laugh? And you call my post ridiculous? They're playing on and potential spectators have a choice as to whether they attend? That's called democracy, which isn't criminal. Would you prefer we lived in some sort of totalitarian state? And who is a real person? Did I ever suggest that people aren't going to die? I'm directly related to one who wouldn't stand much of a chance so I think I'm qualified to speak. If we're talking ridiculous, that's when you start differentiating between real and presumably in your head, unreal people. I think you need to toddle off and have a think about what you've just said because it makes almost no sense at all. I was referring to this post : "Sincere congratulations to all on the decision making panel for the National League for not pandering to mass media hysteria like a pathetic shower of snowflakes" As for this comment : "when you start differentiating between real and presumably in your head, unreal people. I think you need to toddle off and have a think about what you've just said because it makes almost no sense at all." You really are talking out of your backside Its certainly not in my head, having nearly died on a ventilator from double pneumonia - So I suggest you toddle off!!! Oh it is in your head. You haven't qualified anything you've said and only now have you even vaguely referenced which post of mine you were referring to. Silly me for thinking it was the most recent one. Can you explain why exactly, having double pneumonia qualifies you as an expert on the coronavirus? I mean, at this point should I throw in that I was slashed three times on the Seven Sisters Road? Doesn't add any meaningful contribution to the debate though, does it? Bit like your double pneumonia. I think you need to sit down in a cool dark room and listen to some dolphin music to recover your equilibrium. Once you've done that, come back to me and try harder.

Seems like the play nice plea is falling on deaf ears.
If any people want a personal spat, do it in private messages. We're not interested and we shouldn't have to be forced to see it when looking for important information about an important issue. Unless you are a medical expert in this field then what you are offering is just your opinion.

I think there will be some polarisation between 'You're worrying too much' and 'You're not worrying nearly enough' camps.
But neither side can steamroller the other side's views. This is a new virus and we just don't have the firm knowledge as to whether we're calling specific action about it righly or not. Not yet, anyway.
I suppose I fall slightly into the 'Not worrying enough' camp. I intend to carry on as normally as possible. But I have good friends who seem to be preparing to tuck themselves away for a couple of weeks, as best they can. Dunno who's right...

I’m sticking to my premature prediction! We play Saturday, we might get a game on Tuesday before the National League realises it is out on a limb and falls into line with every other major league.

I reckon that Tony has made the right call. Based on what's happening elsewhere it looks increasingly likely that the National League programme will be suspended from some time next week. There are then wider questions about whether the season will ever get finished and what are the consequences (for promotion, relegation etc) if it doesn't.
There are more serious issues. If the season is cut short then most football clubs are going to struggle to find the cash to pay their players and meet overheads. But this again is part of a wider picture. Many types of business (pubs, restaurants, hotels, cinemas) are going to see a crash in custom. The aviation industry is already in trouble.
One step that we can take to help our own club is to buy 'early bird' season tickets which would provide some income during the next six weeks. And this might be the time to make that purchase of SUFC shares that you've been pondering for a while. (I appreciate though that some fans may have worries about their own income at this time.)

One would like to think that in the event of another football club going the same way as Bury the FA , EFL or the Government might make steps to help given these exceptional times . Talking of the Government , where is Boris ? Is it me or is he showing less leadership than something you scrape off the bottom of your shoe ?
I apologise for raising politics in a football forum but there again a few weeks ago I never would have thought we would be discussing a virus on here either ! One more thing , yes I did vote Tory so am not bashing him because I am a left wing communist . I just expect more leadership , preferably positive and not “ you are all doomed and everyone is going to die “ !

I just expect more leadership , preferably positive and not “ you are all doomed and everyone is going to die “ ! I found that strange as well, GGL. In stark contrast to his attitude on the whole Brexit issue i.e. believe enough and it'll be a success and if it's not it'll all be the fault of "remoaners". He's definitely a Marmite character, irrespective of what your personal view of him might be. Not a cat in hell's chance that the Tories would have reached anywhere near the size of their current majority with someone like Hunt or Gove at the helm. I can't see any government steps to assist small football clubs, though. If this situation drags on they'll have far more important priorities across a range of sectors, British Airways for example, who've already made noises about redundancies.

Totally agree with you medwaysider . Anyway , looking on the bright side I have woken up this morning to news that we and the Canadians might have already discovered a vaccine . Let’s all hope that that is the case 😃

What annoys me most about this is it's all to appease the lowest common denominator. The panic buyers who've already emptied the shelves of handwash and toilet rolls. The same people who buy up all the milk and bread if 1mm of snow falls. If only we could manufacture a pandemic that targets the stupid. Get rid of the oxygen thieves and make more space for the rest of us. absolutely spot-on!

Let’s all hope that that is the case 😃 Yes GGL fingers crossed in respect of a vaccine but it would still require mass production and rollout so I doubt it would make a difference any time soon. I was reading an article about it on the BBC website and the somewhat pessimistic estimate is the middle of next year.

Purely common sense ( or wishful thinking ) but I would expect the Euros in the summer to be cancelled and this season to be completed through the summer instead , both here and throughout Europe . The start of next season would then be put back a month or two to give clubs and players time to have a rest and sort out new contracts etc . The consequences of not allowing clubs to not complete this season would surely lead to pure chaos . Nobody would accept relegation unless it was mathematically impossible to stay up ( and that is currently not the case I believe anywhere ) and can you imagine Liverpool accepting that they have not won the league ! Anyway just my thoughts . As an aside my wife and I have a holiday booked for America for May but do not intend to cancel at this stage but will review circumstances at the end of this month and again at the end of April . Things can and will change so there is still plenty of time for decisions to be made .
