I don't think anybody on here will be surprised by that.
Nor do I think any of us expect the season to resume on 4 April.

In fact we're probably quite fortunate that we've ended the season playing well but with not so very much to play for.
And, yes, I am assuming that's it's likely to end up as 'season abandoned'.

The FA made the following announcement late this afternoon. Coronavirus; Football postponed FA Announcement: Please read below Following the Government’s announcement today, for people to avoid social contact and gatherings where possible, we are now advising that ALL grassroots football in England is postponed for the foreseeable future. Throughout this period, we have taken Government advice with the priority being the health and wellbeing of all. We will continue to work closely with the grassroots game during this time. We are in regular communication with the Government and the situation within English football at all levels remains under regular review. Further updates will follow as needed.
So grassroots football is also off, and for the foreseeable future. As AA surmises, in that case a resumption of the NFL in early April is unlikely.

Oliver Holt in yesterday's Mail on Sunday criticising non-league teams playing last Saturday then saying he joined hundreds for a park run. What a hypocrite.

Agreed, in fairness that equals Emma Thompson FLYING in from New York a few months ago to join the Extinction Rebellion protests in London! Oh God, no football of any description for the foreseeable. For anyone who's a fan of the Trainspotting film................I feel like Renton going cold turkey........"I just need ONE MORE F***ING HIT"!

Actually Barrow might end up being the least affected team in that position what with the league only having 91 teams at the moment. Would be easy enough for the EFL to admit them and not relegate anyone.

I think Harrogate and maybe Notts County would have something to say about that. Harrogate are only four points behind with nine games each left to play. Notts have eight games and are a further three points back from Barrow.
Just as the Premier League season potentially could be called null and void, although everyone would put their house on Liverpool winning the title, you could come back and say that anything is possible.

True. Whichever way you cut it, finishing in current positions or delaying the end of season when certain clubs will have key players out of contract, the one thing you can be sure of is the legal profession will be making even more money than usual.

I don't think anybody on here will be surprised by that. Nor do I think any of us expect the season to resume on 4 April. I don't think the season needs to be over, yes I think we all need a short break while this virus is doing its thing. But I think at some stage if this is going to last for a long period of time, the powers that be will need to look at the morale and mental health of its citizens. Just like during WW2 that will probably mean forms of entertainment. We could play matches effectively behind closed doors with just a handful of people in the ground, and beam matches live into peoples living rooms on a subscription basis. Yes as I stated on the other thread it needs players to want to play, and does expose a tiny number to each other, but I am thinking that of the greater good, the continuation of the season, entertainment to keep morale up and of course getting money to our clubs. Technically nowadays this is easy to do even with our equipment as we have done it, but the hope is the league and BT would also get involved. I will be interested in your thoughts?

Really don't know regards the TV. People will be cancelling Sky and BT in their droves, why wouldn't they without anything to watch? I don't bother with the movie package but I'll probably swap sports for movies. Jeez, this is going to be bleak. I do kind of rely on live football (anywhere, I love ground hopping) during the season to keep the old Black Dog at bay. I realise I'm not alone in that. Really wish there was a hibernation pill to take for a 3/4 month period

I'm not sure that is possible. We all have to think about players and club staff health. I mean, there are quite a few now who have either tested positive and/or in self isolation. Barring Mason Mount. What a silly sod having a kickabout with Declan Rice.
Not being a medical expert or indeed working in a football capacity I would think, and hope, that Euro 2020 will be delayed until next year and the domestic football calender will resume in June. Logistical issues with that though but at least club's like Tonbridge may stay afloat.
I may just go to The Winchester to have a pint and wait for all this to blow over.

Just my thoughts on the subject of the season abandoned theme . I agree that it is highly unlikely we will see footballs being kicked meaningfully come the beginning of April and that should the season be abandoned it would cause widespread upset , and not just in Liverpool , possibly leading to legal actions being pursued .
So how about this season is completed at a point in time when suitable , even if we have to wait until late summer to do so . If that were the case then the following season could be shortened to ensure that it finished by May 2021 . This might involve teams only playing each other once . I know that this would cause problems with players contracts , not to mention the unfairness of only playing a team once , be it at home or away , but this are unusual times and blue sky thinking is required . How I hate that phrase but I just had too !
