Wow, just brilliant. Great commentary too from AB. Congrats to all involved.

What a game in which to score our first ever goal and take our first ever points at Chesterfield! The result mirrored that in the reverse fixture, and I don't think the home side tonight could argue that our victory was undeserved. Donovan Wilson looks an excellent find, finishing superbly. The whole team played very well of course, but I thought Omar once again was a real warrior out there, a continual thorn in the opposition defence.
With Hartlepool only drawing at King's Lynn, and (in one of the later kick-offs) Torquay currently trailing 4-0 at Maidenhead, we go six points clear at the top.

Should never have doubted the team!
I said clean sheet as always the target and in truth they very rarely looked like breaching us. Wilson looks a great find, really good movement, plays on the last man, 2 super finishes in 2. Feet firmly on the ground, onto Stockport who have just signed a prolific League One goalscorer . . . clean sheet order of the day . . .
That was a fantastic away performance. Always the opposition will say we didn’t really play well, we were poor. Just look at the work rate, there is a reason we’re hard to play against. Davis, Bugiel, Eastmond, Beautyman, Randall all of them work work work. How many times did we rob them in a dangerous area where we might have done damage? Bugiel particularly dropping in and disrupting them all game, monster of a player. Utterly brilliant.

Can't stop smiling after that performance. Well done to Adrian Barry for an excellent Mixlr commentary and to Chesterfield for a quality streaming service. Onward and upward.

I no longer see Torquay as a threat. Their form has fallen off a cliff.
Notts County staged a very late comeback to gain a 2-2 draw. I see them as perhaps the biggest danger. They’re more than capable of stringing several wins together and they stand to gain most from Dover’s results being expunged, having lost to them early in the season.

I thought we were in with a shout after their defeat at Maidenhead smashed their invincibility shield. Brilliant result & performance from us nonetheless.
I too see Notts County as our main threat at present.

The problem for Notts County is that they are still in the Trophy and only one game in hand but yet 14 points behind. All depends on how and where they squeeze these games in.

They’ll have 2 games in hand after Dover gets quashed.
Stockport to me are the most likely but they do lose a further 3 for their Dover win.

Stockport are already playing midweek (not all games tuesday) and saturday now until the end of the season barring between the penultimate and final game of the season.
Plus the potential of adding a trophy final in there as well.

Over the moon, what a performance tonight - All the other results going for us too. I had this stupid dream as a kid, that one day U's would play in the football league Brilliant utterly Brilliant... (And OK I wish we could go back to GGL to see this fantastic side of ours).Yeah it will get increasingly annoying when we are still not back in a months time, when a lot of other things open up Yep, Anyone remember me going loopy in December about that few games back at GGL delaying us from going back in the Spring. I was prize enemy No1 but I was bloody right

Subjective. Arguably we could be back right now pretty safely given ease of distancing and the fact it’s outside. Add in the fact that most of the vulnerable are now vaccinated . . .

Thought AB on the Mixlr mic did an amazing job of commentary tonight. May sound a bit cheesy but his style and manner did a great job of painting pictures in the mind for those of us who didn’t have the visuals. Near as dammit pro quality

That was a significantly better performance than either the Wrexham or King's Lynn game. Be in no doubt how big a result tonight was.
Assuming Dover get scratched, I think 10 wins out of our remaining 16 will give us the title. That will get us to 86 points which I think will be enough. There is going to be one side that pulls up close from the chasing pack. I personally don't think it will be Notts because I don't think Ardley would handle that pressure. I would say the same for Wrexham with Keates in charge, as we've seen before. I agree that Torquay have imploded (as they did last season under Johnson). Challinor at Hartlepool seems to work better with big bucks behind him, but as we saw at Fylde, without a talisman his sides usually are short term success.
So to me that leaves Stockport and Halifax. The former are chucking money at this season but with a hefty squad and a new management team replacing a manager that was sacked not on performance, there may be off field issues there. So for me at the time of writing, Halifax are the ones I'm watching.
I hope Barden isn't too crocked because again our defence was immense tonight. 1 goal conceded in the last 4 games. Best goal difference in the league. Almost best defensive record in the league. But most importantly, the best team in the league.
Long may it continue.
