This is why I wanted a draw today. Goal difference was key to my wish. I fully believe that Sutton can win the final two games but Stockport have to play Woking and Yeovil. Torquay's last game is Altrincham after Barnet. I fully believe that Sutton will now win the league and some others must feel a tad silly thinking that it was gone a couple of weeks ago. Not silly, but very happy to be wrong. Although the smug 'I told you so' comments are somewhat tiring. Plenty of those after the Bromley Torquay result. At the time our form was awful and our legs looked like they'd gone from the epic March run of games. Going to Maidenhead and winning was not something I felt hopeful about. Again, more than happy to be proven wrong.

Torquay's last game is Altrincham after Barnet. I don’t really understand your thinking. Without that point for Torquay 3 points would guarantee the title. As it is with us playing Hartlepool and Torquay’s relatively friendly final 2 games we have more than a little work to do. Stockport were never a threat to us prior to this game and if we lost our final 2 games Torquay likely go past us anyway.

We’ve given ourselves a good chance now. The players and management have kept their cool and concentration so far in this campaign and we need to continue to do so. There’s going to be a lot of attention on us this week and we need to retain clear minds. All the focus needs to be on a performance and result versus Hartlepool. Let’s take it to them and look for another win in an extraordinary season. The same discipline in terms of cards and decision making is required. We have now sealed a home semi final in the play offs at the very least. That alone is worth some celebration. Incredible incredible effort. We had already sealed a home play-off spot yesterday Of course, got that wrong! In my head was thinking guaranteed top 2 (as staying above Stockport). Shall I say guarantees our highest ever finish instead?!

Stockport would have been 6 points behind with a superior goal difference.

So 1 point from our last 2 games would have taken Stockport out the equation. And Torquay likely to end up on 83 points anyway even if defeated today! Torquay were and are the only threat.

Both of you must both be "newer" U's supporters..........this has happened before, when we were hoping to win the Ryman League in the 2010/11 season, when, on a Sunday afternoon a very large contingent of us went to Hayes Lane to watch Cray Wanderers beat Bury Town and effectively win us the League...........Billy, your memory was correct Thanks.I've been watching (since Surrey got rained off) Essex v Derbyshire from Chelmsford.I've really missed my visits to that ground, hope to see you there again in the not too distant future !

The lowest that Sutton can now finish is 2nd! Runners-up spot would most likely mean a home play-off semi-final against Notts County or Wrexham on Saturday 12 June. But we don't really want that, do we? 🙂

Overall, I think that we can all agree that the absolute best thing for Sutton to do is to beat Hartlepool next Sunday in front of a thousand or so delirious Us fans

Its like people don't expect those who got it wrong to be just as happy as they are! I'm literally loving being wrong.

I’m sure some won’t like this, but I’ll continue what I have been saying for about 6 weeks now. Let’s take one game at a time because there could still be one final twist in this great season for Sutton.

Indeed there could be a twist, Torquay concede their last game v Altrincham because a) it’s raining so they might slip b) the grass is the wrong colour c) there’s a muddy bit by a goal so they won’t be able to score d) because they know that Sutton has already won the league because they are better 😂🥳.

It is rather tragic that Alty don't play on an ice-rink. Like we do.

I see that after today's game, Torquay's manager described their last two games as 'dress rehearsals for the play offs'. Let's hope he is right.
