That's a shame Trev. However, it will never cease to amaze me that looking at Meadow Lane, how pristine the pitch is, the stadium itself and the oldest club in football history (still in existence that is) were not only pipped to the title but well and truly topped by little Sutton. Amen to that. Exciting tie this, the playoffs are far more enjoyable when you're not involved in them!  [Edit: Added the all-important word "not"] |

I think these guys might have something to say about that... en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheffield_F.C. Notts County can claim to be the oldest professional football club in the world, though. But if you ask me, that makes it sound even better when you consider our status. |

I should have said oldest football league club until they got relegated. Who are the oldest now? Nottingham Forest I presume Dr. Watson.....

You are right, of course! I did check but I noted the wrong date (Stoke City are two years older than Forest, but changed their name in 1878).

I thought of Stoke first but I believe two clubs merged into Stoke City. Thus meaning they were a 'newer' club.
