Out standing, the will too win is amazing just don’t give up. Matt must have got in too them at half time and so they came out a different team and went for it. For me Milson had a great game a threat through out, so well done lads and the management team we move up to seventh.⚽️👏

This is what I just posted on the Huddersfield Town forum:
Just back home (well, at daughter’s house) from seeing the best game I’ve seen in years. Beautiful early autumnal day, pint in the clubhouse beforehand and then witnessing Sutton United 4 Port Vale 3.
Superb entertainment, PV playing some great stuff and going 2-0 up after 28 minutes, but SU also never giving up, getting it back to 2-2, then 2-3 to PV with 12 minutes left. Sutton lay siege, 3-3 on 87, then 4-3 to Sutton in injury time.
Seven different scorers, 25 shots, 13 on target, wonderful stuff. Most of the PV coaches booked by an excellent ref, and Dean Whitehead having to restrain a PV player getting into an argument with the fans.
Enough said. I make reference to Dean Whitehead as an ex-Town player. I think he was the only PV coach not booked!

Well... that certainly makes up for the disappointment of the match versus Oldham! This time we snatch it at the death!! Thought that PV were excellent especially during the first half - we were struggling with their passing and movement. But of course the spirit and fight in this team is awesome! The only thing that disappointed was the goading of the away fans after the winner went in. It could have provoked a nasty flashpoint and, as a team and a club, I think we're better than that. Still I'm sure the management will address that with the team in due course. Now...just win that game in hand and we are in the automatic promotion positions!!

I have never been so emotionally exhausted at a football match as I have today. Who are ya who are ya, I know who I am and I support the best non-giving up team in this league, we can beat anyone🥳

Greatest match / atmosphere ever been to at Sutton ( and that includes the 2017 FA Cup run)
Fantastic performance - the players and manager never gave up. I saw Matt Gray telling the players to keep the ball down at 3-3. This enabled us to pass the ball around, they panicked and let in the 4th.
Vile set of supporters they got too. Good thing there was segregation today!

Brilliant result that puts us in the play off places. Only disappointment for me was that (I understand) Dean was booked for the second match running.

What an outstanding game of football that was. What a battle between two excellent sides. Carry on like this and there will be full-on fights to get hold of match tickets!

Wow! I feel I've already had my ST money's worth after this afternoon's entertainment!
I thought Vale looked a class above when they went two up and feared we were going to be on the wrong end of a cricket score. TBH I felt we were a bit sluggish in the first few minutes of the second half too but we certainly made up for it. The atmosphere at the end was even better than last season's promotion clincher v Hartlepool.
Not sure what was going on with the Vale management team. Maybe we'll find out later this evening on Quest.

Wondering who will play in the back four at Portsmouth on Tuesday if Ben Goodliffe and Jon Barden are still injured? Ben Wyatt nailed on to start - not sure about the other three.

In response to Cheshire comment re goading. I agree but also think the PV players did a fair bit of ‘goading’ themselves when they scored to make it 3-2, then immediately celebrated right by our fans. They didn’t have to do that but it’s part of football I guess.

Wow. Just wow…
With the eyes of football fans on us today, due to a reduced fixture list (and the only match being played in the London area) - plus being featured on Quest and being pre-match ‘bigged up’ elsewhere - we couldn’t have picked a better game to put on such a show. A vociferous away support, plus an electric atmosphere from us U’s, made for an unforgettable afternoon. PV were the best footballing side that we have played this season, and like others have stated, at 2-0 I thought we were going to be taught a lesson. But we have resolve. To claw it back to 2-2, and then concede relatively late to go behind again, would finish off many other teams. But not ours. Those last 10 minutes were wonderful. There were also two break aways that our strikers just didn’t have the legs to finish. The U’s support at the end has never sounded louder, and that includes Leeds and Arsenal in the cup.
I would rank this as one of those special games in our clubs history. There may well have been more important results. There will have been better performances. But, with the football nation looking on, up against League Two’s form side, to come back twice, and to win it at the death sends out a clear message. We are here on merit. We are true competitors. We are Sutton United.

I'm more than happy to defer to others who know better about these matters than me but I thought "goading" was a bookable offence or maybe I'm getting confused with removal of the shirt. In no way to condone what happened this afternoon but a curious feature of the match was that the teams were not kicking towards their own fans in the second half as is the norm.
