That makes a lot more sense now you've clarified it AA - I was a bit puzzled too, given some of the results we've had from Matt! The hazards of posting after a few celebratory pints in the Hope. ☺

I'm grateful that it’s the Day of Rest today. It’s giving me the chance to unwind a bit and gently float down from the clouds!
Good times never seemed so good (I feel a song coming on!).

I've always thought of you as a voice of reason AA but that's a strange statement!Would you care to elaborate please? I probably didn't express it very well, but Dos's and Matt's management styles are quite different. Dos was more 'heart on sleeve' and gung-ho, Matt is a calmer and more cautious presence. I'm not suggesting that one approach is better than the other, as both have delivered unprecedented success. Under Dos we experienced some crazy, high-scoring wins with late goals (against Bromley and Wealdstone, for example). All I meant was that yesterday's match was reminiscent of one of those. I got that, AA. It was emotionally reminiscent of the Doswell era in some strange way. Even the way Matt seemed so pumped up after full time fitted that vibe.

Not sure our fans cover themselves in glory either. It seems to me that rather than support the team they spend all their time dissing the opposition, It’s not big and it’s not clever. I normally make my way to the corner flag/exit area for the last couple of minutes.Yesterday,as the winning goal went in,the immediate response of a large group of Sutton fans was to start waving goodbye en masse to the Port Vale supporters at the other end of the ground. Don't you like a bit of banter Billy ! No more and no less than what came the other way.

Watching the pitch side coverage, Matt G can claim a great bit of coaching as you can here him telling Will where to be to receive from Easty so he could deliver the cross that led to our winner.

This result has nothing to do with Dos. He will always be a club legend but we are in a new era now. If things continue as they are, then Matt might be a club legend sooner rather than later. Dos built the foundations, Matt is putting the building up. Dos is a legend, and if Matt had been here 10 years and achieved what he has in 3 seasons he would be a legend as well. Matt's trouble is he is too quick, nothing short of premiership will get him legendary status now

AA can obviously post and defend himself but I think I knew what he meant. You can all correct me if I am wrong but I believe Matt had indicated that as he and Jason were both centre backs it is important to both of them that the defence is strong and don't give many goals away. When Dos first joined the philosophy was if they score 4 we score 5. Therefore yesterday had the feeling of a Dos game. Don't think any disrespect was meant. Both are absolute legends here. On my 2 hour drive home one thought did pop into my head. If we are still an EFL club when Matt gets poached by a bigger club, how many of you would like Dos back if he was happy to come. His ambition was to manage at this level. Just a thought. And while typing my response AA replied I believe Dos told me that he was a centre back as well.

My word, that was extraordinary. At 2-0 down and with Vale looking very comfortable, I was fearing a bit of a hammering, but what character to come back twice from being behind. That match undoubtedly goes in to the top half dozen most memorable Sutton games I’ve ever seen. Though the win over Leeds brought a tear to my eye (because I had been at GGL for the 0-6) the Port Vale game is the most exciting game I have seen at the Lane. Memorable? It has to be - When I forget how that plot unfolded I will be going gaga. Since Corals made us favourites to go down and thus outsiders to go up, I reinvested £20 of last season's winning wager at 50/1 to get promoted. If U's can maintain Saturday's will to win and a healthy squad that betting slip may stay pinned to the notice board for several months.

What a game! It was my 4th game at GGL this season and a 4th win. I dragged a few pals to watch it with me and my boy and it was quite the spectacle. From bottom to 7th in a few weeks! Who would have thought? Amazing fight and spirit from Matt and the boys

I know it's a bit childish (I''m 60, for God's sake) but I keep chuckling at random moments. 'Coby netted it!'

In response to Cheshire comment re goading. I agree but also think the PV players did a fair bit of ‘goading’ themselves when they scored to make it 3-2, then immediately celebrated right by our fans. They didn’t have to do that but it’s part of football I guess. I stand with Cheshire on this. It was quite appalling and I suspect we WILL get into trouble for this if it continues. As for Port Vale's celebration at 3-2, they make no guestures to the crowd and are simply celebrating in front of their photographer. Billy was quite right to highlight the fact that one of our players retrieved the ball and ran back to the centre spot, however this was after Vale's 20 picked the ball out of the net and attempted to hide it in the middle of the celebration before throwing it down behind the corner flag.

Now Saturday's match has finally sunk in, a few comments.
We beat by far the best side we've played against all season (and that includes Cardiff to me) and we did so with hard work and a wonderful attitude. Every single player played their part, and although we conceded 3 goals, when you look back at them, technically they were all pretty decent, especially their 3rd. Both this game and the Northampton one felt like the total confidence we had last season when we took the league. Even better that in players such as Smith, Bennett, Boldewijn and Kizzi, we've got good players that fit into our system. Matt G's recruitment is stunning.
We're on a roll, and there is nothing to fear in this division whatsoever.
