Not quite at the races first half, maybe gave them a bit too much respect. They scored 2 very good goals, not much you can do about the finishes. Foul for the first one was very soft.
2nd half we had it going for 20 minutes but the stoppages really took the heat out of it and from then they looked likelier to add on the break.
We did battle as ever and hung on in there and could have got a point with Kizzi’s header close to the end which he should have scored. Good cameo from Barden. Ajiboye looked shattered and might need a rest!!
We’re doing great and I’m sure we’ll spring back as we always do under Matt Gray. Through gritted teeth - well played Swindon. I’ll have to avoid my neighbour for a few months 😀

I’m keeping a low profile for a few days and ignoring all the messages on my phone. 😬🙄. Best Wishes to Harry B on his arm injury. Gutted for him but he’ll be back.

Really poor start. Solid opposition. Four first team players missing and it mattered. Let’s get ready for the next one now, it is a tough period with two games every week till the end of October. The only first team player I consider missing was Craig. He has to start really when fit. Milsom, Boldewijn, Benett. I don’t mention Wilson, I expected Olaofe to start after his latest goals. Don’t want to offend anyone, Ben Wyatt is a great guy, but hasn’t proved to be up to League Two so far.

Apart from his little spoon in our box in the first half which resulted in them hitting the post!

He puts a lot of effort and enthusiasm, can’t fault that, but he seems a bit physically overwhelmed and prone to mistakes (Notts at home last year, Scunthorphe, Oldham, now…)

We can all argue about team selection but i thought Wyatt was excellent last night. Bugiel & Randall haven't had a lot of football lately but they would be in my starting line up.

Wasn’t long ago people were saying the same about Bouzanis, let’s review how that one turned out.

I was impressed by Randall last night. He had a pretty torrid first-half, often having to play the ball back whenever he received the ball, and looked uncomfortable…. but, in the second half was a different player, taking on defenders and putting in some decent crosses. It would have been easy for him to have gone into his shell because of that first 45-minutes, but he stood up and took the game on. The same could be said of Wyatt.

Typically Jonny Williams never managed anything like that goal last night when he was at Palace. 😅 A little surprised to see he has dropped down to League Two anyway.

A career of injuries if I remember correctly from watching Sunderland documentary! Doesn’t look like he’ll be at this level for long. They’ve not started him that often I don’t think.

I don’t think we’ve quite got the hang of League Two forums and have a lot to learn Port Vale and Crawley especially. Having read them all after all our matches
We must blame ref for defeat The opposition are one dimensional and were “lucky” “sh*t” etc etc We should be be calling for the managers head Essentially blame everyone except ourselves and never credit the opposition for anything. The only fair/generous forum response came from Exeter and it’s easier to be magnanimous in victory.
Regarding last night we looked tired and could and should have lost by more. Eventually we clawed our way back into things but what let us down was the quality of crossing and free kicks into the forwards.
Won’t criticise Matt - I suspect that we are carrying some knocks and weariness ( some of it mental) after the ridiculous stresses of Port Vale and Crawley so we probably started with the 11 fittest.
If Easty isn’t back for Saturday I reckon Barden and Kizzi could play as Mix and match on the right hand side. Wyatt will only get better and is quick and does carry the ball well and his deep runs with the ball are encouraging.
The key reason we didn’t get back into the match was the sheer physicality of Swindon- quicker to the second ball and they wrestled/muscled ( fairly in the main) when we were in possession to get the ball back or to stop us maintaining procession and do anything meaningful. We have never faced anything of this quality at GGL since Arsenal.
I have no doubt that Swindon will be automatic promotion candidates so no disgrace. We need to pick ourselves up and make sure we get something from the next game. Don’t forget we never lost two consecutive league matches last season..

As I always bang on about first eleven here is my current first eleven (it’s a moving feast)!
===========⚽️ 4-4-2
GK - D Bouzanis J Kizzi B Goodliffe C Rowe R Milsom D Ajiboye C Eastmond A Smith E Boldewjin R Bennett I Olaofe
👋🎈 p.s. - I am very tempted to slot J Barden in midfield replacing A Smith after his 9 out of 10 cameo last night.

www.footballwebpages.co.uk/league-two/attendancesAverage crowd now over 3,000. This is phenomenal. Really helps getting these sizeable away followings obviously. Finances must be in decent shape at the moment even allowing for the ground stuff. You’d think over 3,000 gives a really good basis for longer term League survival. Some of the initial bounce may disappear and we may get less away fans and neutrals after a while, but equally we may build more support locally at the higher level. Interesting one to watch as the (hopefully) seasons go by.

Honestly, no complaints about the score last night. Over the 90 I thought Swindon were the far better side, especially in the first half where it could have easily been a cricket score if they had a bit more luck and we didn't have Bouzanis.
We really were not at the races early on, and there's no finger of blame at any one player. Everything and everyone was off the ball to start off with, giving the ball away far too easily, long balls going nowhere and failing to get the tackles in.
Saying that we did pull ourselves together for the last 10 or so in the first half and the second half and we neutralised them. I don't think we especially looked like drawing or winning, but full credit to the side for keeping the score respectable.
Our first defeat in a month and our first defeat at home since late August. Keep that sort of record up and I'll have no complaints. And of course a very speedy recovery to Harry who has had a torrid season so far.

How much of the £10 do the club get. Do the SUFC guys get any remuneration? There is a definite improvement on the production and the commentary is getting less partisan. I miss the half time past games package.
