Maybe the first half possession stats included the time their keeper had the ball. Very good point ! lol

As Andy K has alluded to (above), in Matt's post match interview he provided a helpful update on the current state of fitness of a number of the squad. Sounds like both Easty and Jon have suffered set-backs in their recovery from injury. Also sounds like Tanto (maybe) and Will (at least) picked up knocks yesterday. It is looking like the squad may be a bit stretched for Tuesday night's game with Wimbledon. I think that the defence might be similar to-/the same as- yesterday as it doesn't sound like either Jon or Louis are likely to be ready to start. I hope that we can rest Rob Milsom as by my reckoning he is only one booking away from a suspension. Would be good if we could rest Ali as well as he is likely to have a big work-load over coming months with Harry being a long-term casualty. With Easty looking unlikely to be available, maybe starts for Dundo and Kenny on Tuesday? Wouldn't be surprised to see Enzio, Ricky, Donovan and Tobi all also starting on Tuesday with Richie returning to the bench. Why would you want to rest Milsom? His bookings won't go away if he is.

No what i meant was ,how are they collated ? I certainly didn't see Hayes & Yeading having 51% possession. Ah I see. I think yesterday they were collected by a slightly confused squirrel attempting to store the final fruits of a harvest ready for the long and bleak winter. I think it probably would have been more accurate if it was.

I would not want Rob Milsom to be suspended for a league game as a consequence of a yellow card picked up in the Papa John Trophy.

The accumulation of cautions is competition-specific.

Does anyone know what the 50/50 draw number read out at half time was? I was too preoccupied with obtaining refreshments and missed it.

Still recovering from the lingering effects of Covid so I decided to let the Supporters Club coach from GGL take the strain for the 35 mile or so trip to darkest Middlesex (I’d have been at Cardiff to see HTAFC blow a lead with an injury time defeat otherwise). Thanks first of all to John Parsons for his efforts.
Frankly the whole afternoon turned out pretty well as I expected. I sensed a bit of apprehension on the coach and in the Sutton crowd, with Sutton now being seen very much as the “big boys”, against some upstart non-league minnow. To be honest, considering their league form, I was disappointed with H&YU, particularly up front. Their goalkeeper was one irritating so-and-so, with his fannying around at goal kicks and what not, but he was actually pretty good and his save from Olaofe was top notch. The goal from Randall was excellent and out of keeping with most of what had gone on beforehand, which was fairly tedious and predictable.
The Hillingdon area, in fact that whole area north of Heathrow and the M4 is a horrible, ugly and desolate hinterland. It’s just an awful area, and I’m afraid there is no way I could ever watch football there regularly. The main stand at H&YU is very impressive in size, but is bland, and, of course, the other three sides are currently just flat-standing. There’s plenty of room, so they could easily expand the amenities if they ever needed to, so the potential is there, but at present the ground just seems cold and unlovable.
I was glad to get back on the coach and leave, with the win.

They just don't seem to be attracting many now having moved to Yeading's old ground.

The ghost of 1986 excorcised, bana-skin avoided. Let's face it, that's all U's could get out of yesterday's tie. For so long the hunter now the hunted.
That it took one of the few exhibitions of real quality to edge the tie says much about the fare on offer. The gusting wind across the pitch didn't help matters while the "best grass surface in n-l football" (has the guy who boasted that been to every n-l round in the country - Stratford Town's doesn't look too shabby?) was often a bit part with regards to proceedings.
I thought H&Y played well but then with their record this season and home advantage, I wouldn't have expected anything else. But they rarely breached U's back line and when they did their finishing was inadequate. Easy to see why they're going so well in the Southern Prem. Physical, quick and in their on-loan no 11, Goodrham, arguably the most skilled player on show, he brought the best out of Dean B in the second half.
For U's the second half was better but ironically, Hayes had more opportunities too. In the end though, that one piece of real quality was enough. Will R doesn't score loads but boy does he score gems. Donovan W did well to roll a lovely pass but Will's strike was true, clean and highly accurate.
Victory may have come at cost though. I hope Omar is ok for another Lebanese adventure, Will looked to have taken a cut in an accidental collision, while Ben G had some discomfort towards the end. No doubt some on here will require immediate info on their collective states. Jesus.
Of course we had our mate Sam refereeing and he was his usual unpredictable self. Still, no pens nor red cards from him and that might be a first for when he has officiated a Sutton match.
As for The Warren or the SkyEx as it's called now. The location has never been great tucked at the back of an industrial area that also now boasts a Goals Centre, a country park (yeah, in Southall) and a school. A great new stand with an empty building behind it. No idea what the Warren Suite is like as we weren't allowed in it. The rest of the ground was little different to what it was before except for the flat standing was very well appointed. Toilet facilities were rather limited for the ladies, a few opting for the gents while there appeared no facilities in the stand as directors et al were using the away end too. A far cry from Church Road, Hayes former home, bulldozed for housing, which I always liked going too. They had a brilliant old programme shop there too; more of a football nostalgia emporium tbh. I wonder what happened to all that stock? Still, the SkyEx is certainly not a bad place to watch football and wouldn't that stand look great at GGL?
A gate of 1,201 with over 400 from U's still equates to an almost trebling of the home gate. H&Y as a team deserve better local support but for a long time now neither Hayes nor Yeading have been able to attract anything above 400 on a regular basis.
So, a second round tie awaits. Of the previous eight only two have been home matches, let's hope we get a third. That was our first win in the FA Cup since October 2018 when Aaron Drinan scored that last gasp winner at Wealdstone following Jamie B's penalty save (ref was our Sam - he gave three pens that afternoon). Drinan got another FA Cup goal yesterday, his goal enough for The Orient to see off Ebbsfleet.
On to the PJT with our friends from Wimbledon.

Fantastic to be into round 2, we haven’t been there that often in our history. Good point, GarethL. Am I right in thinking that this will be only our 9th venture this far into the competition?

We were talking about this on Saturday - is it correct that we've never lost in the 2nd round? (No pressure lads!)
Edit: of course we have, sorry, Monday morning brain
