Magnificent day. Our team - players and management walk tall you are all superb. And the trip home on the supporters coach was one of the many reasons I’ll keep travelling to away games until I am 99. UNITED UNITED UNITED UNITED UNITED UNITED UNITED………….. And on and on and on 👋🎈⚽️ Hi all, Tranmere fan who just had to register and reply to the above. Absolutely love the sentiment in this post. Good on you and I’m going to make sure my son reads your post to realise what long-term commitment is, come rain or snow! If you’re down next season, you’re welcome to stay at my humble abode for the weekend, I’ll buy your ticket, show you the delights of Wirral and the beer’s on me! Thanks for cheering me up after a miserable day for us yesterday (culmination of three league defeats on the trot with no goals is hard to be happy about, hence the negativity on our forums). Your team did you proud yesterday, more penetrative than us up front, very solid defensively and ample quality in midfield. Good luck for the rest of the season, apart from one particular fixture on 19th March!

Must start by thanking all the Sutton United Supporters who travelled to yesterday game at Tranmere by various means including the coach and to Sol who made the journey with us. Always my pleasure to take the SUFC crew on the coach. The away support was again great as bas been all this current season. Must also thank the Tranmere fan for his last thread and thanks to their fans who were in their fanzone and as before made us welcome. Last of all thanks to Matt, Jason and the players for what was a great day out .

Most enjoyable awayday for me since Bohrmians; amazing city to mooch around in beforehand, possibly best sausage roll I’ve had in ages from the bakery opposite the ground to the kindest and most welcoming home supporters I’ve had the pleasure to meet, in their terrific marquee. And the small matter of a comprehensive 1-0 win. Tranmere could have played all night and not scored; hats off to all especially Coby Rowe; his best game in a U’s shirt. A joy from start to finish

And after the match all we heard was well done. I hope we can reciprocate the goodwill when you come down to Sutton next year.

Watched the full match on iFollow last night and it was enthralling, to my mind it was one of the best this season so far in as much as Sutton played and played never giving up, also Tanto’s relentless effort in chasing that ball must in itself justify him getting an award this month let alone scoring THAT goal. And Tranmere were not an easy walkover either it only seemed to be the mystifying changes Micky Mellon made that totally mucked them up.

146 according to the police. Tranmere oddly don’t seem to announce attendances . . . very strange!

I’m a very starry eyed Sutton United supporter and can even irritate our own fans with my over optimistic predictions and musings. I love Merseyside spending 6 months living in Halewood, Liverpool in 1998 as part of my education. When you visit the world famous GGL in March come to JP’s DEN behind the GGL 🥅 and I’ll shout you a cup of tea (don’t drink alcohol) and a pack of custard cream biscuits. All the best for the season ahead I hope you finish 2nd 🥈 in the league behind ………..👋🎈⚽️

Three wins in the last week and three clean sheets suggests that our 'game management' may have improved from the start of the season. The main area where I think that there might still be scope for further improvement is the goal return from our 'target men' - Omar, Richie and Tobi. They've each only scored in one game so far this season - Omar's only goal coming in the first game of the season. Clearly, scoring goals isn't their only role in the team and Omar in particular works his socks off for the team and helps to create chances for Tanto and Donovan. Nevertheless, if they could chip in with a few more goals, we might even start to put pressure on Forest Green.

That was a remarkable, coherent, fast-flowing performance, brimming with confidence and just wonderful to watch. I also thought Tranmere were a very good side, but every one of their fans who's expressed an opinion to me (five or six in total) has said they were awful. Very odd! As usual their supporters were very friendly and welcoming both in person and online

We're the 7th highest scorers in the league and with goals coming from a variety of players, as long as we score more than we concede, it really doesn't matter where they come from.

Corporal Jones was right, they don't like it up 'em. Certainly Tranmere don't. Their manager refers to throw ins, free-kicks and time wasting. No reference to U's superb defence, the hard work, the organisation and the spirit to get over the line.
Equally, one of their forum refers to U's style of play in rather negative terms. Tranmere had 65% possession but the sum total of one shot on target. They have scored 11 goals in 16 matches. Play all that passing game as much as you like mate, I know what I would rather see from my team, goals.
There appears to be a fair level of snobbery from these EFL types as if the only way to play the game is their way. Guess what, mixing up the style of play over 90 minutes doesn't appear to be hurting U's at the moment and it certainly didn't last season.
Yesterday was a great example of U's playing to their strengths, perhaps the two wide men probably didn't get into the game as much as would have been liked but even so, David A had a couple of decent runs in both halves. He set up Will R to head, unluckily, against the woodwork and in the second half appeared to be illegally baulked on the edge of the area (more on the ref later).
But all players used worked very hard, especially when Rovers had the ball and that is why 65% possession led to just one effort on target. Then Tanto chased two lost causes robbed Clarke of the ball and scored. Clarke was castigated on Rovers forum, no credit to Tanto for his incredible attitude and his lust for a goal. Coby R was unlucky to see Clarke clear his shot off the line too. Coby was MotM in the FL Paper and I ain't arguing with that. I thought, defensively, this was U's best performance of the season.
Great to see Craig E back and he and Ali were solid in the middle which aided that defence when it was put under pressure, particulalrly in the closing ten. Dundo came on late on too and put himself about to aid the cause. Another excellent three points on the road. Prenton Park is a great place to watch football and the locals are always a decent bunch before and after. And even sweeter when the long journey home is on the back of a 1-0 victory. That score line is the ulimate in away wins.
As for who scores the goals, it doesn't matter. Look at how the goals were spread around the team last season; didn't harm U's did it? Relying on one main scorer is never ideal and if they come from all parts of the squad that is a big plus.
So to the ref. Was there a case for an early red card when Tanto was brought down, possibly? However, after a decent first half, he was truly awful in the second. U's got nothing and I was even surprised he didn't find fault with our goal. It was a fine exhibition of "homer" officiating. Fortunately it didn't have an adverse affect on the result. Not helped by the lino to our left who looked to have missed a fairly easy offside in the second half. He was scampering to get in line, caught ball watching I reckon. Perhaps, it is the sheer size of PP but U's three visits there have coincided with not the best refereeing, although none as bad as the first. He was from Liverpool though.
A great win thanks to some excellent individul performances alongside a superb collective effort. U's are now 14 points clear of the bottom 2 and I think that 50 point safety valve could be somewhat high. What an achievement that already is.
Orient and the in form Aaron Drinan next. I think this could be the team's toughest assignment yet. A strong ref will be needed as I do think the home crowd at Brisbane Road can be a fair influence. We will probably get Mr Brook.

Don’t forget regarding our trip to Leyton Orient that we won there in 2018 , the year they won the league and we finished 10th. (Didn’t Tommy Wright get a bad injury there- I don’t think he has been the same player since). I also remember they got away with daylight robbery at GGL curtesy of Ross Warner’s keepy uppy ball juggling that went wrong that gave them a last minute penalty. That was the game in which their player got a red card for throwing his boot at the ref whilst he was being stretchered off!!…and the late Justin Edinburgh still complained about the pitch despite them winning. We seemed to have an uncanny knack of winning at the league leaders homes FGR, Orient, Lincoln spring to mind from our NL days, so we should be confident that like going to Tranmere (another happy hunting ground) , Orient shouldn’t be feared
