Yes, my mistake (I did say IF I remembered correctly).
2,000 seats for year 3 but overall capacity still only needs to be 5,000

We’ve certainly got the room to do huge amounts of work to the ground. The problem, as ever, is finding the cash!

We’ve certainly got the room to do huge amounts of work to the ground. The problem, as ever, is finding the cash! Not only that although it is very important. Is it possible that we will outgrow our footprint at GGL? You can't imagine Championship games being played there but we are only two promotions away!! Anyway maybe that's for another day!

I confidently predict we’ll never have to worry about that!!
Obviously there are limitations with the surrounding infrastructure but it seems to have coped amazingly well with capacity crowds in the past.
I think the ground itself could be developed quite comfortably given the boundaries but affording it is another matter.

I love these AB round-ups. I have to admit that, for all of its ‘charm’ , GGL is a little embarrassing in this brave new world of League Two. What the board are doing - upgrading slowly and smartly - should deliver a stadium that keeps up with the status of the team, and will enhance the whole spectator experience. It’s bit Catch-22 really - the club doesn’t want to lose the community vibe, but cannot keep everything as it is when it is so successful on the pitch.

As a relative Newby to watching SUFC I love the ground as it is. Obviously it will need upgrades over time, but I'm glad it is probably not going to end up looking like one of these lego kit look a like stadiums like a lot of new grounds do.

Does anyone know if the longer term plans for the Collingwood Park side include building on the former running track area, or is it limited to the existing terrace footprint? Obviously there is lots of space at present between the touchline and terracing around the ground, so if the new stand was brought forward, perhaps as much as 20 yards or so, it could be the start of “squaring off” the entire ground potentially.

My guess is bring the stands forward but go up and back. Eventually the tid bits in the corners will have to go as you won't be able to see from them if you start building stands closer to the pitch mind you.

How can you confidently predict we'll never have to worry about that ? We all love GGL as it is and i'm confident it can be adapted for League 1 & 2 . However i can forsee problems in respect of access ,parking and our neighbours.

I was talking about the Championship. Don’t see us ever being at that level.
Are you confident it can be adapted or worried about outgrowing the ground?!

Nobody ever thought Sutton would reach the Football League, but they did!

That’s true but the difference between National League and League Two is nothing in comparison to League Two to Championship. League One would be tough enough. If I see it in my lifetime it might actually bring on the end of my life I’d be in such shock.

Ideally it would bring it closer in my opinion. I will await plans with interest. There is loads of room for catering/bars etc round the back if that happens. The potential that side is huge, the limiter will be cost no doubt. You could dump a few million on developing that side. I suspect we’ll have to do something fairly limited, but guess it needs to provide 1,000 seats. Time will tell.

‘However i can forsee problems in respect of access ,parking and our neighbours’.
The parking has always been limited and the parking in the streets taken, what can change in that sense? People seem to have found a way parking further away and walking or making their way via public transport/on foot. Access seems fine now and has coped with big occasions when it was more limited. And neighbours, well, they’ve always complained.
