‘However i can forsee problems in respect of access ,parking and our neighbours’. The parking has always been limited and the parking in the streets taken, what can change in that sense? People seem to have found a way parking further away and walking or making their way via public transport/on foot. Access seems fine now and has coped with big occasions when it was more limited. And neighbours, well, they’ve always complained. No i'm sure that at the present time things can progress in accordance with EFL requirements but i tend to look back at Wimbledon's meteoric rise in a ground which could go no further. Sadly it didn't work out particularly well for them.

I went to watch Wimbledon a couple of times at Kingsmeadow, it was always such an arseache to get to. I remember going about 3 weeks before Xmas once, and a Wimbledon game plus absolutely chocca Xmas shopping traffic going to / from Kingston. Yikes!!!

Does anyone know if the longer term plans for the Collingwood Park side include building on the former running track area, or is it limited to the existing terrace footprint? Obviously there is lots of space at present between the touchline and terracing around the ground, so if the new stand was brought forward, perhaps as much as 20 yards or so, it could be the start of “squaring off” the entire ground potentially. Ideally it would bring it closer in my opinion. I will await plans with interest. There is loads of room for catering/bars etc round the back if that happens. The potential that side is huge, the limiter will be cost no doubt. You could dump a few million on developing that side. I suspect we’ll have to do something fairly limited, but guess it needs to provide 1,000 seats. Time will tell. What about the comparison between the National South or even the Isthmian leagues? Yes I agree with you with difference in calibre but if they have done it once jumping up and getting promoted in the space of five years they can do it again. Sorry I quoted the wrong post!

There does come a point when GGL would not be fit for purpose without massive financial investment, but that would only become an issue if we were to be welcomed into the Championship. That is not impossible, but highly unlikely in the foreseeable future. It is only natural that some posters (myself included) are getting carried away with projecting into the future and, in our excitement of supporting an EFL club, seeing the ‘problems’ of success. Maybe we (I) need to take a few breaths and enjoy the here and now!

It can happen, but not necessarily that quickly. Maybe one day in 10, 20 years Sutton United might be a Championship club, who knows.

Yeovil Town and Burton Albion, both non-League clubs twenty years ago, have each competed in the Championship within the last decade. (Yeovil's subsequent slide back into the National League is a reminder of what can happen.)

I did talk to my mate before about what if the club outgrew GGL mind you, Sutton it's self isn't exactly full of wide open expanses that could be turned into a new football stadium.

The main problem I suspect, is not money (although clearly we would need some investment) but planning permission. The Council tend not to be very forthcoming with supporting their local football clubs despite the increase in footfall in the town because of our success.

I think money will be harder to come by than planning subject to a windfall in FA Cup or something. There is only parkland bordering that side and it’s not going to be a towering 10,000 seater! We seem to be getting other plans through ok. Think AB said pavilion also got the go ahead.

The committee are working tirelessly on this. Doesn't matter whether there's parkland or not. The view from residents windows is enough for complaints to go in so in the past we were unable to develop above a certain height. Hopefully those views have disappeared from the Council Planning team now.

Bearing in mind where we currently in league 2 perhaps we should be considering getting the ground to League 1 standard?
