On 30 January 1999 we won 2-1 at Slough Town, again en route to a league title, this one the Isthmian. Our goals both came from Mark Watson.
Back home on 30 January 2001 for a 1-0 Surrey Senior Cup win v Dulwich Hamlet. I've got our goalscorer as P Whitmarsh - was that Paul Whitmarsh who was at Welling and Hendon? Not sure I remember him playing for us...
More goals at GGL on 30 January 2010 when we beat Aveley 3-2 in the Isthmian League. Goals were scored by Francis Quarm, Charlie Taylor and James Norwood.
30 January 2016 saw us win 2-0 at Chelmsford City in the National League South. Dan Fitchett got both of those.
And finally 30 January 2021 was the day of our 1-0 defeat at Hartlepool, which we more than made up for in the reverse fixture a few months later.

We should give a mention today to one of our directors and former prolific goalscorers. 30 January 1993 Dominic Feltham scored a hat trick in a 3-1 win over Slough in the FA Trophy - like Woking in the previous round they were a level above us at the time in the GM Vauxhall Conference. Their goal was scored by future Sutton manager Ian Hazel.
And if our other director who was a former prolific goalscorer is feeling left out, we might be able to get him a mention tomorrow.

29th January 2017. Sutton United 1 Leeds United 0. A quite wonderful day, probably the biggest individual result in my nearly 3 decades following Sutton and of course our best ever run in the FA Cup. Quite simply my favourite day supporting Sutton United. First flight into Gatwick, coach up to Sutton and into O'Neill's for opening, brekkie and the Federer v Nadal Aus Open final which proved to be a good omen for Swiss-based Sutton fans! Joined by my oldest chum with whom I'd been going to Sutton matches for years and another good mate, we beat a liquid path down to GGL, enjoyed a famous result and then beat a liquid path back to Sutton station. The coach to Gatwick never appeared, so I teamed up with another stranded traveller to cab it down the A217 (poor girl had to put up with a torrent of Sutton-related rubbish from yours truly), made it to the flight in the nick of time and snored all the way back home. Tremendous.

Paul Whitmarsh had a spell at Sutton in the 2000/01 season and scored a decent number of goals. Wasn’t the Chelmsford game in 2016 the re-debut of Nicky Bailey?

Our first season back in the Isthmian after that Conference season..Whitmarsh was a mid-season signing who I seem to remember scored a very good goal against Aldershot (that same season perhaps), think we signed him from Hendon - he was a bald striker from memory.

We signed Paul Whitmarsh midway through the 2000-2001 season after he had spent the first half of the season with Welling and he scored 10 goals in 23 appearances for us, including the one against Aldershot referred to above which was a first time volley from the edge of the penalty area. He had previously been a very prolific striker with Hendon and Dulwich.
And talking of prolific strikers, since I said yesterday that we could possibly get Joycey a mention today, 31 January 1981 was our first ever appearance in the second round of the FA Trophy, and he scored the first goal in a memorable 5-1 demolition of Wycombe. Ian Parsons(2), Graham Dennis and Ray Sunnucks also scored, and we went on to make our first ever appearances in the third round, quarter finals, semi finals and final.

One I remember for absolutely no reason I can fathom is 31 January 1998 when we drew 1-1 at Heybridge Swifts in the Isthmian League. Matt Hanlan scored our goal.
31 January 2009 was definitely one to forget as we went 0-1 down to Billericay Town at home in the same competition.
We managed a better result at GGL on 31 January 2015 when we beat Farnborough 2-0 in the Conference South. Scorers Gomis & White

My first 1 February match was in 1997 when we lost 1-2 at home to Oxford City in the Isthmian League. Mark Hynes scored for us.
On 1 February 2005 we were at home again but this time we won 2-1, a Surrey Senior Cup game against Woking. Nigel Brake and Joff Vansittart were our scorers.
We were also at home on 1 February 2020 when we beat Ebbsfleet 1-0 in the National League. Harry Beautyman scored that one.

You are right, I remember the away trip. I was very tired when I posted that!
I also remember a 6-1 thrashing of Redhill at home in the SSC on 2 February 1999 where we were treated to a variety of goalscorers. One from Dave Harlow, three Watson goals (one from Steve and two from Mark), Nassim Akrour and the obligatory own goal.
We didn't have such a good time on 2 February 2008 when we lost 1-0 at Bromley in the Conference South.
On 2 February 2013 we won 2-1 at home v Eastleigh again in the Conference South. Sam Rents and Craig Dundas scored for us that day.
And finally one I have to mention even though I wasn't there as it was played behind closed doors. 2 February last year was the evening we had that stunning 2-0 win at Stockport with the National League title race in full flow. Isaac Olaofe scored for us and the other went down as an own goal.

One to forget on 3 February 1998 as we went 4-0 down at Kingstonian in the SSC and I had indeed forgotten it so I'll say no more about it.
It was a much better Tuesday evening for us at Thurrock on 3 February 2004 when we won an Isthmian League match 1-0 with Tobi Jinadu scoring the goal.
On 3 February 2018 we lost 3-1 at Brackley Town in the FA Trophy. Tommy Wright scored for us that day.
I think that's the lot!

A pitch that was mostly mud and a performance to match. I do remember their sausages being nice though.

On This Day : 3rd of February 1959 - Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, and J.P. Richardson board a flight to Fargo, North Dakota. The plane never reaches its destination and crashes near Clear Lake, Iowa. With three major singers gone, the day is nicknamed, "The Day the Music Died."
