I really hope those who derided this competition back in August either stick to their guns and boycott or be adult enough to change their opinion. Because I expect you don't realise how much this means. View unchanged that PL sides should be nowhere near this competition IMO. As I said to your question at the start of the season in the unlikely event we got to a final I’d be there. Hypocritical maybe, do I care or need to justify myself? Not one bit. I’m ecstatic for everyone connected to the club, especially all the hard working volunteers over so many years, It’s an incredible effort as a club and these set of players are beyond amazing, the shot of their reaction to the last penalty save was fantastic. A day at Wembley is huge and I hope we can drag another bunch of supporters into the club. I also hope everyone enjoys the day and the occasion, it’ll be interesting how many tickets we can shift.

Whilst I saw this competition as good experience for the Palace U21 lads this season, I have to say I still find having those teams in the competition a bit rubbish.
Thankfully to this day one of them hasn't won it yet, or even come close to doing so.

As of previous posts. My I add my congratulations to all. From The Board, All the playing management and players and all the supporters who went up to Wigan last night. What a fantastic night. We now have a great day ahead at WEMBLEY. WELL DONE ALL.

What can I add? An occasional visitor for 2 years, then fan "6 years young" compared to others. Watching the face of a friend who just kept saying "we're going to Wembley", hugging his mate with tears welling up. Reading about Gareth as well sums it all up for me. Although a day for ALL U's fans, in particular it is for fans like them, and others too many to mention who have been through thick n thin a lot longer than me and remained loyal....WELL DONE LADS.

sh*t the bed. I really hope those who derided this competition back in August either stick to their guns and boycott or be adult enough to change their opinion. I’m afraid I’m one who derided the competition and I only bothered to go to the Harrogate match. Will I be at Wembley? You bet! The competition is irrelevant, I’d be there if it was a friendly game. After 55 years of watching Sutton they have in these last few years exceeded every hope and expectation that I ever had as a supporter. Except a win at Wembley after, for me, two failures. So I’ll be there without a trace of embarrassment for not being at the earlier games.

We're all thrilled and delighted to be going to Wembley, and I don't suppose any of us wants the occasion sullied by a simmering disagreement about Premier League U21 sides. But there are some of us who stll believe that allowing them into the competition undermines its integrity.
Wigan only scraped past Arsenal's youngsters 1-0 in the quarter-finals. If that result had been reversed, and had that Arsenal side, perhaps including players with recent Premier League experience, then knocked us out in the semis, I'm sure that many of us would have felt cheated out of that trip to Wembley. The fact that this didn't happen doesn't prevent something like it happening next season.
Points made, let's move on and look forward to Sunday 3 April. 🙂

Well that was a fun day. Got home at 2.45am (wonder if Mr Frake is home yet!).
Well done to everyone who made the trip and of course to the players and staff. What an amazing achievement. There is plenty of excitement in the town and beyond so it should be a fantastic day and hopefully we can attract some more regular fans.
Thought the Wigan fans were class. Some lovely comments on various social media sites. Bristol Rovers fans should take note.

1.I agree with Amber Aleman, let's move on. 2.JR was right about the Wigan fans. Three or four came up to us and congratulated us on our win.A nice gesture.

I must add my thank you first of all to Matt, Jason, management team and all the players for their achievements getting to to the Papa's John's final at Wembley after a fantastic night at Wigan. Also thanks to the Board of directors and finally big thanks to all the Supporter's who made the long journey last night by various means for what was a great night and once again immense support. Looking forward going to Wembley and taking Supporters'Club coaches for what is going to be another great occasion in my memorable 55 plus years supporting this great club. To echo John (and thank you for my space on the coach after a 35-year leave of absence !), many thanks to all of our supporters who trekked up to Wigan last night. 320 was a great effort and the noise throughout was excellent, for most of the game the noise we could hear on the far side came from the yellow end rather than the home fans.
After the Trophy Final I'm not sure many thought it would be another 41 years before we returned to Wembley, but was it worth the wait ? What a great night. To all of our more recent supporters I'd say enjoy last night and enjoy the final, as you never know what lies ahead.

If we hadn't been thrown out of the Surrey Senior Cup we could have been on for the treble.

Did anyone else get slough flashbacks when deano scored in sudden death and a defender stepped up next. When Louis pappa John scored, I knew we would win!
Anyone who called Wigan's line up 'weakened' knew not what they were talking about. It was very much a first team despite the 11 changes.
Have to admit Wigan pinged some lovely passes around but rarely threatened a serious chance. One came because of a rare error by 'pappa' and kizzi should've put his man or the ball in the stands for theie goal but otherwise we defended superbly, as usual.
Yes there were times we had to hang on, but for 20 mins after half time we ran them ragged.

I thought it was a balanced game, we were certainly holding on in the last 20m and we had some players who did well keeping their composure. But as we were the away side I think we probably just about deserved to be winners and probably created the most clear cut chances over the 90m.

I'll give a small anecdote from tonight (and apologies in advance if this causes embarrassment). A couple of minutes after the penalty save in the mayhem, I turned round to look at the supporters behind me, to take it all in. About 4 rows behind me Gareth Miller was standing there, on his own, in silence. He then took his glasses off and wiped a tear from his face. I turned around at GGL after we beat Hartlepool to win the League and saw the exact same reaction. There are more than reasonable odds of making it a hat-trick - or more - this season! Who'd've imagined that?

It has just occurred to me that aside from a technicality we have now beaten 4 FA Cup winners in cup competitions-Coventry Wimbledon Portsmouth and now Wigan
