My heart says playoffs, but my mind says mid-table. I understand some users reservations, but I think that we’ve shown that we belong in the football league. Merely hoping for survival seems like a low bar to set. Time to stop acting like we’re lucky to be here. After one good season? The ground is barely adequate although great strides are being made. I believe Matt in his end of season round up said that the club is still looking for a decent training facility. I’m not suggesting we are lucky to be here, but there’s a way to go before we become an established EFL club.

Obviously rumours at this stage, but as we know with Matt, invariably if he says he's going to do something, he does.

Footballers, and football clubs, rightly place huge importance on the standard of the training ground and other facilities. After all, it is their place of work. I hope you are correct in SU securing improved (and long term?) training facilities as it will be a significant factor it attracting better players.

Very hard to predict at this time.
I think providing our players hit the same form and our significate players do not drop standards ( it often happens at this level), and that we make two of three decent signings, then there is no reason why we cant push for play offs again.
I will be happy with mid table. I would like to think we can steer well clear of relegation again.

With a week to go before our opening fixture, now would have been the right time to start this poll !!
Looking at Oddschecker, the bookies generally have us finishing just below middle, which is pretty much the same as when Stewart listed Sky Bet’s odds in early June.
Stockport are favourites with Sky Bet at 6-1. Northampton have shortened quite a bit to 7-1 and are joint second favourites with Bradford City. We’ve drifted slightly to 40-1, but still ahead of Crewe and Hartlepool, both 50-1, and Rochdale, Barrow, Harrogate and Colchester, at 66's.
Saturday's opponents, Newport County, are right in the middle at 25-1.

I’ve voted for ‘8th-15th’, would take mid-table obscurity if offered now. Despite retaining the core group I have a few worries about goal-scoring what with Olaofe, Ajiboye and Bennett departing over the summer - granted I know we’re a team where the goals are spread out well. Hoping we get off to a good start on Saturday.

I wouldn't put Salford or Stockport near the top but Bradford City will be challenging. For us a lot will depend if we have found a player to fill David's boots as so far i haven't seen that raw pace and skill on our right wing. Can we get hold of a decent loan striker whilst the young players we have improve.

Renowned tweeter of the Leagues has us down to finish 22nd this season in his League Two Preview.. And his surname is Sutton. You couldn't make it up. I could be wrong, but I seem to recall a renowned Twatterer (or whatever they call themselves these days) boldly predicted our relegation in the season we were crowned National League Champions. Given that we have retained the core of the squad that saw us narrowly miss out on a playoff spot, our predicted plummet suggests Mr Sutton wears thorn-tinted spectacles.

"The U's found themselves on the right side of fine margins a lot last year" is a particularly unusual statement, for anyone that actually remembers our results from last season e.g. the season opening 2-1 loss to Forest Green Rovers sealed by their 91st minute winner, our 2-1 loss to Oldham from a 96th minute winner, a 3-2 loss to Rochdale from a 95th minute winner, that 3-2 loss to Newport County from a 93rd minute penalty, a 1-1 draw to Bristol Rovers from an 85th minute penalty etc.
From my perspective, in the early games in particular, those fine margins did not go our way. My hope is that, in our second consecutive season at this level, we will be better prepared for those sucker punches in the latter stages of matches...

I particularly enjoyed the snobbish view of the 442 as if what’s worked for the last hundred plus years is suddenly not going to work next year for some reason. Good for him though, dudes got paid to make some predictions and pose as an expert

Conversely, simply because something's in vogue doesn't necessarily mean it's a sensible tactic, the current trend for playing the ball out from the back being a case in point. We've seen many a club come a cropper from playing the "fashionable" way. Matt has devised a methodology that plays to our strengths and long may it continue.

Just look at “super computer” predictions they mostly seem to say Sutton will be 12th i.e. mid table, to which I agree as the lowest point we will finish at.

This league is about fine margins. If we drop by a fine margin and others grow then we could struggle. However if Matt and the team keep up their habit of signing decent recruites and our good players continue to get the best out of them selves, then we should survive. I would say mid table, though somewhat off a play off place. But that being said, with this club of late? I would not rule out a play off position.
Saying we will finish 22nd after the season we have had and given we have only lost two players while bringing in some expirainced signings, is a little unfair.

On a purely playing budget table, we probably are in 22nd.
Pundit after pundit predicted the same last season, many predicted we'd finish bottom, and virtually all of them predicted we'd finish below out fellow promoted team Hartlepool.
Seeing a prediction based around the loss of "1 key player" doesn't quite get what a team ethic we have here I won't take too seriously.
