We do of course have a couple of crack agents in Swindon (one of whom is ex-RAF) and they will no doubt be passing on any locally-gleaned intelligence ahead of Tuesday's match. 👤😎

Although it is by far my closest fixture I cannot bring myself to attend. As a Swindon fan since 1971, although I haven't been since 1982 when I got the non league "bug",I never, ever thought I would have a conflict of interests with Sutton.I don't think there are many people who thought we would be where we are now?If I went I would have to support Sutton and I would feel the daggers in my back from my late Uncles, Godfather and next door neighbour(My Dad was Man Utd I'm afraid so he wouldn't care lol). I will therefore have to support us from afar(probably Brackley I expect!)

I have to think that this time around we will be too strong for Swindon. Their decent manger last year left and one of their best players moved up to Scotland. They have managed only 1 league win this season and at present are the draw specialists. A relatively easy journey if the M25 is clear but my preference is to sit this one out and watch it on I follow.

Looking forward to this fixture, even more so because a certain forward they had has gone to annoy the hell out of fans in Scotland. Can't see him staying there too long to be honest, but not of any interest to me now. They have a lot of new players with limited experience of playing together, and I don't think they have gelled as a unit yet. Their fans are a fickle bunch and if we score first or maybe even get a couple they will turn on their players and their support can turn quite toxic very quickly. They seem more than happy to boo the players than get behind them. Many of their fans will still see us as a bit "tin pot" but that's ok we're used to that. I'm looking forward to seeing Josh terrorise their backs as he flies down the wing and Will to make inroads on the opposite flank. I guess Matt has a full squad to pick from and that will be nice after last season's fixture. I'm hoping for bragging rights to be mine after this match!! See you at the County Ground.

Swindon were one of the best teams we faced last season but, as Jenny says, they've undergone quite a few changes since then, with manager Ben Garner moving on to Charlton and a number of players (including McKirdy) also departing. This could be a good time to play them, with the new-look squad perhaps still to gel.
They do still have midfielders Jonny Williams and Louie Reed who scored those impressive goals at GGL last October. And they will have high hopes of loan signing Luke Jephcott who's scored a lot of goals for Plymouth Argyle. No side at this level of football should be underestimated.

One thing that is for certain is we will have a stronger team out compared to the corresponding fixture last season.

I thought Swindon were really poor against a scratch team at their place last season. We conceded 2 atrocious goals that day without which it was hard to see them scoring (after first 10 mins). They did play well at ours.
Their manager is already under pressure but they will no doubt have some decent players. Important we start well and put them under pressure, get the crowd negativity going.
We go in good shape, full of confidence, our first 3 points away and first point(s) vs Swindon would be very welcome. I don’t think Swindon have seen us approaching our best yet so hopefully we can be on it this time round.

3 estimates of a sub 100 Sutton following so far on their match thread out of 3. Odd seeing as quite close and we probably nudged over 200 last time on a Tuesday despite what was announced. Hope to see a good turn out!

This is our 4th competitive games we've played against Swindon. All the previous 3 took place on a Tues evening. Both of this seasons ones will also be on a Tuesday.
Surely this is the side we've played the most times (percentage wise) whilst never having played them either on a Saturday or never not played them in an evening game? (I'm sure Mr Frake will know)

Were they both scheduled Tues last season too? I know our home one was but can’t recall if away was a rearranged one. Why would this happen? We’ve plenty of other local(ish) sides with Saturday and holiday fixtures.

We’ve plenty of other local(ish) sides with Saturday and holiday fixtures. No last season, the away game in March was the only midweek game that March that was scheduled at the start of the season - the other midweek ones (Wigan and Oldham) were either rearranged or cup fixtures. I think the league try and schedule midweek home and away games as much as they can (so a team doesn't get a specific advantage), although that's not always the case. Northampton home and away is a Tuesday this season too, although Gillingham home is midweek evening (albeit between xmas and NY) whilst the away game is on a Saturday Last season (aside from Swindon) Colchester ended up being both a midweek fixture by accident (the away game was postponed due to Covid). Salford at home ended up being midweek too (although it should have been the away fixture which was swapped due to the stadium/pitch), and both Mansfield and Newport games were not on a Saturday, but the away of the former and the home of the latter were played over the Easter weekend.

And of course they knocked us out of the FA Cup in the 1970s (or was it 1980s?)

It was December 1981...we had beaten Bishops Stortford in the first round to gain a small measure of revenge following the FA Trophy final disappointment earlier that year.
