This lot did the double over us last season (both 0-1), despite being one of the poorer sides we faced. In the game at GGL we got punished for not taking our chances, their goal a well struck free kick that was about their only shot on target. In the return fixture an injury-depleted Sutton side lost to a somewhat contentious penalty.
That spot kick was converted by Conor Wilkinson who (as previously at Dagenham) proceeded to taunt the visiting fans. He's still at Walsall but hasn't featured in their squad recently; if he does take to the field tomorrow he can doubtless expect a warm reception.
Perhaps then there's a little extra motivation for us to get a win tomorrow (having seemingly turned a corner last Saturday). There's a good chance that Louis will be back from injury (maybe Rose and Kendall too), and if he is then our defence can return to its usual composition.
The Saddlers come into this game one place and one point below us. They've only won once away this season. Their danger man is Danny Johnson, already with ten goals this term (though only two of those have been scored in away games).

Wilkinson did his ACL towards the end of last season. Hence is not being involved so far this term

Was he the ? Who goaded us after scoring against us at Walsall last season?

Was he the ? Who goaded us after scoring against us at Walsall last season? Yes. He did the same thing for Dagenham and Redbridge too.

for balance - some of our players like a cupped ears goad
remember the corresponding fixture last year being a shocker (entertainment wise)

You beat me to it pauld, some of our players gestures towards opposition fans have been downright embarrassing.

Both home and away, Walsall were the worst side I saw, by some measure. Away from home we were disrupted by Deano getting injured in the warm up and Harry going off injured in the first half, but we were pretty toothless. They won on a disputed penalty. They were never going to score that day in any other way, but then again neither were we.
At home, our performance was not far off the level we slumped to at Gillingham. We gifted them 6 points, when in reality we should have got 2 each.
I don't think we'll perform like that tomorrow.

They have a different side and manager this season of course unlike us. Results suggest they remain at a similar sort of level as they were previously. They pinched the game at ours last season and defended resolutely. It’s a game we should approach with confidence following the last few days. A win would provide valuable breathing space with a tough little run of fixtures to come. Important we return to winning ways at home and start on another long home run of good results. We managed the squad pretty well mid week so should be in reasonable shape freshness wise.

Maybe so but none have run towards the away support got close enough to the fence for a steward to try and restrain them and done some rather odd fingers around the eyes, making goggles, gesture. Especially when three sides of the ground were populated by home fans. A cupped ear, a raising of the arms in celebration or a knee slide but not what Wilkinson did and he's done it twice too.

A manager will always want competition for places in the starting XI.
