If you consider our 4 x EFL transfer windows (to the best of my recollection - and apologies if I've forgotten anyone): 1. Summer first season - good - brought in the likes of Kizzi, Boldewijn, Smith, Korboa and Bennett - brought back Wilson and Tanto. Lost no one Matt wanted to keep. 2. Winter first season - OK - no one in, Tobi Sho Silva allowed to leave. 3. Summer second season - Rose, Ward, Hart, Pierre, Neufville, Gambin, Thomas, Fadahunsi, Ogungde, Ridley, Kendall all brought in - Kouassi and Charles-Cook promoted internally. Ajiboye, Tanto, Bennett, Bouzanis, Nelson, Wyatt, Davis, Korboa all out. I'd say that we lost a few top players that we could not replace like for like because of financial constraints - but good signs in terms of recruiting with the future in mind - which a club with our limited finances needs to do. I think this window probably felt worse than it actually was as it was accompanied by losing players like Goodliffe, Smith, Barden, Rowe and Beautyman (amongst others) to injury. 4. Winter second season - so far - Angol, Ajiboye, Dennis, Kasimu in - Kendall, Thomas, Fadahunsi (short term) out. Gambin expected to go out (maybe playing back in Malta might help his international chances?) and maybe loans for one or two others (like House) with National League teams? If this window closed today, I would be happy enough. Matt appears to have pulled out the stops, within what our financial constraints will allow, to address the key issue of lack of goals from our strikers. There are signings that could be classified as 'gambles' - but realistically we weren't ever going to get Haaland or Mbappe. Good summary and I agree, the winter transfer window seems to be going well so far, although i was a little surprised at two forwards and no strikers. However, a fellow U's fan and ardent Arsenal supporter says the MK Dons lad Dennis filled in at right back for Arsenal U18s at times. He rates him highly.

You may well have run businesses but I doubt you’ve ever managed a professional football club. Anyone expecting 100% hit rate on new signings is living in an alternative universe, maybe one of those creative ones you mention. I’ve no doubt the club will make mistakes along the way and learn from them but if you’d like to provide a method of cast iron certainty for a club operating in our talent market then I’m sure there is a role for you. What do you suppose might be learnt from these failures involving subjective judgements? Unless you're gonna count 1000s of hours wasted on football manager, and running a Sunday league side then no, you are correct in your assumption. At what point did I say I expect a perfect success rate? You really don't seem to understand my point of view, which is inquisitive rather than overtly critical (although criticism is part of inquisition). I like to analyse and debate rather than blindly praise. I just find it interesting that the club signed these players. Thomas is a static target man, whereas our system requires mobility. Kendall I could understand as he had pace and on another occasion may have worked out. Yes there were some good signings and ones for the future, but it was a poor transfer window by Matt's lofty standards. I'm not sure how that is even debatable. I understand your point of view but fundamentally disagree. You seem to be operating on the basis you have some sort of superiority by offering a critique of the club. I also like to analyse and debate. Hence my objection to what you wrote: Your posted started as follows: where do you think it went so wrong in the summer with recruitment? And went on to accuse the management of panicking. The biggest thing you’ve overlooked is the most important factor in recruitment is overwhelmingly retention. The fact is we’re doing well and therefore to speak of something going so wrong as if we’d had some sort of disaster and were rooted to the bottom of the league is in my view nonsense.

Do we foresee any/many loans or transfers out tomorrow up to the deadline?

Matt said in the interview, no more signings but one or two out on loan. Think the signing we have made are great and just what was needed. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Given the positions of all the four incomings this month I wouldn’t be surprised to see Neufville returning to Luton Town. He’s become increasingly ineffective as the season has progressed.

It has been a good window so far. Let's hope that tomorrow is nothing more than a 'tidying up' day. Of course, if any of the younger players are to be loaned out to non-league clubs, nothing needs to be finalised tomorrow. Luke probably needs to sort something tomorrow more than anyone else at the club. Maybe a loan for Aaron as well to get some game time?

Wouldn't surprise me if Kylian went on loan either with the striking options that we've brought in over the month as well.

Wasn’t Aaron going to AFC Wimbledon? That's starting to look like just a rumour. We'll find out soon enough.

According to the line up in the flp, he played for AFCW on Saturday.

Not entirely impossible that I read it wrong. I can't check as it's in the recycling bin and due for collection

Given the positions of all the four incomings this month I wouldn’t be surprised to see Neufville returning to Luton Town. He’s become increasingly ineffective as the season has progressed. Wasn't Josh a season long loan? If so it would be dependent on Luton wanting him back unless we have a termination clause. He's our best option as cover for Will who has thus far been awesome but is always prone to an injury or two, so I doubt Josh will leave. May also depend on how much of his wages we are paying.
