We're now just into January, and already know that David Ajiboye is returning to us on loan from Peterborough until the end of the season.
I don't expect many more changes to the Sutton squad this month, but there seems to be a consensus among fans that Matt needs to bring in at least one striker and possibly also a right back. Some players would need to leave to make way for new signings, and most of us have an idea who is likely to be departing.
Both Carlisle and Stevenage have announced signings today. We can expect a flood of other announcements over the next week and beyond. Our club will make its own announcements once agreements are in place; silence does not of course mean that nothing is happening behind the scenes.

Given Matt has mentioned the lack of creative quality in the final third a few times and we have a couple of forwards who are not even making the bench, one does wonder if they will be let out on loan or released. Unless Kendall is injured I am not sure who his loan move is benefiting?? Even if we let them go and got 1 more favourable forward in then it would be worth the business. I think Gambin going out on loan might not be a bad shout as well given the arrival of David A.
Admittedly none have really had a decent run of games but obviously, Matt does not have enough faith in them, at least right now anyway.
That said, And maybe I am alone on this one, but Going by his body language I think David A is looking quite down in the dumps and is lacking that positive glair in his eye that he had when he first joined us. Let's hope Matt and the Team can galvanize him again and bring the best out of him. We can sometimes forget that players are just people who have daily lives and issues to contend with amongst all the drama..

Disagree re DA. I thought he spoke quite well. He’s obviously a bit nervous as I expect fans are expecting good things from him, just like when he hit top form last season.

Re DA i heard he was down in the dumps at Peterborough but he should be fine now that he is back with us.

Kendall has already returned to Lincoln. Has that been formally announced yet? I was searching earlier today for confirmation but couldn't find anything.

It was reported earlier today in the press. Not seen anything from Sutton but wouldn't be surprised to see him go back.

I think that it is totally understandable if DA is feeling a little down at the moment. As genuinely pleased as all associated with Sutton are to have David back, the reality is that he wouldn't be back if his transfer to Peterborough had worked out how he hoped it would.

Matt did, in a recent interview, use the phrase 'put the smile back on his face', about David. Only just came back to me, in the context of this thread.
Well, I am sure we can help do that, too. We know he can be a class player. But let's not expect miracles from the man from minute one. He'll need a little time to reintergrate.

It’s been announced
Striker Charley Kendall has returned to Lincoln City after the League One club exercised their right to recall him from his loan in January.
Charley made eleven appearances during his time after making his debut against Chelsea in the Papa Johns Trophy, four in the starting line-up and seven as substitute.
We wish him every success in his future career.

Matt confirms in his interview with Tony re: the Tranmere match a) there is no recall clause in respect of the DA loan - so he will be with us until the end of the season and b) he is still looking to bring one more player in during this transfer window. I think that most of us hope that this will be someone to fill the void left by Tanto's return to Millwall at the end of last season.
