not there when i did it - they must update as they go. I'll wait and post the days proceedings the day after Hi Paul, have found some of the ones you were missing...there's a section that covers October to December 22, they were there, stating that "deals to be completed on 1st January"

Let's just hope that the January window is better for us than the Summer window. Jack is the only Summer signing so far who has established himself as a first team regular - and to date, five of our Summer signings, for various reasons, have barely contributed. David coming back is obviously a great start to the January window. Hoping that we can hang on to our 1st X1 players and bring one more in. I'm sure that Matt has a target or targets in mind. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing us taking a punt on one of these three: Nicke Kabamba (Barnet), James McShane (Dorking), Malik Mothersille (Chelsea U21s - could only be a loan).

I think that's a little harsh. A number of the signings were signed for the future (Kerbey, Ridley, Ogundega and Tope), others were signed as cover or competition and actually have done so (Ward and Hart), Neufville until the last two games has played almost all the season. Which leaves Thomas, Gambin and Kendall. The last one is gone, and the other two arguably were signed as cover anyway. Was there anyone playing today (or on New year's day) who you think needs replacing? Especially if any of the 3 mentioned came, who would they knock out of the first team?

I think that your assessment is very similar to my own, Andy (although I note that you have omitted Aaron from your list).
Matt has always said that he wants competition for places in every position. Consequently, while it is ok to sign players as 'cover', they need to be good enough to pressure the player in their position in the team.
Also, while it's ok to have one striker who is perhaps more of a maker of goal scoring chances than a scorer of goals, I don't think that you can afford to have two week after week. Omar reminds me quite a lot of Emile Heskey when he played for Liverpool and England - a big physical presence who did an important job for the team. However, Emile's relative lack of goals was never really a concern because he had Michael Owen playing alongside him. Donovan does a job for the team as well - and he clearly played a big part in Ali's first goal yesterday (although sadly, he also had a part to play in Tranmere's equaliser). I just think that the team would be significantly improved if one of our two strikers was hitting the back of the net more regularly than has been the case this season. If Donovan was able to recapture the goal scoring form that he showed when he first signed for us on loan at the end of our promotion season, this wouldn't be an issue. Matt has stated that he is looking to bring one more player in during this window - which suggests that he also thinks that there is scope to further improve on what we have already (even though what we have already is pretty good).

It seems that Plymouth have found a way to sign a new young striker (from Aston Villa) without having huge funds at their disposal. It is understood that Plymouth haven't paid any transfer fee for him - but Aston Villa receive quite a high percentage of any sell on fee.

Colchester have signed Exeter captain Matty Jay. Quite a signing. Not the first signing for them this January that’s involved a few, have Colchester received a cash injection?

I think Colchester have always had money. They just used it badly before (too much meddling from the board from what I heard)

I think Colchester have always had money. They just used it badly before (too much meddling from the board from what I heard) There's always at least one side who spends their way out of trouble, and one of the main reasons our uptick in form came at such an opportune time. Judging by their back to back wins, we played Colchester at a very good time and I expect them to move away from the drop zone. Can't see the Gils staying up with their goalscoring woes, but it will be a real dogfight for the other drop spot, and being able to watch from a safe distance (hopefully) will be a privilage. Next season it will probably be three down, so even more of a scrap.
