The forecast is better than it was in that crucially it’s not going to be as cold at night so should thaw in time for a 3pm ko. Also we’re lucky that we’re playing a local team so if needed a late inspection can take place.
I think the game will be on

I was in the office this morning, and the expectation is that Saturday's game will go ahead. If needed, the covers can be put on the pitch overnight.

Quite often it is not the pitch but the safety of the spectators that is the problem.

Quite often it is not the pitch but the safety of the spectators that is the problem. Not too sure about that. I can only recall one occasions where that was the case (the car park was too icy), and the SSC game v Merstham which was played but fans were only restricted to the main stand on that basis. I think if the club are confident the game will go on, the factor out of their control will be the pitch, the playability of which is only decided by a qualified referee. We'll get a better idea when the frost covers come off at 10am tomorrow.

So today we come up against allegedly the highest paid player in League 2 (other than players on loan from Premier League clubs) - Dom Telford on £4,500pw. Following a number of recent departures from Crawley, it appears that they may have only one goalkeeper left at the club.

Seems strange what with 3-4 hours of sun to come and temps well above freezing, coupled with it being a local fixture. Maybe the refereee had some better plans this afternoon.

I do not know but expect it is the area left of tunnel infront of the grandstand which does not get any sun onto it until much later in day. Even the last time the covers were used this section had frost on it when match got underway.

This afternoon's match against Crawley has been postponed due to a frozen section of the pitch in front of the main stand which has not had the sun on it, although the remainder of the pitch is playable. Our thanks to all the volunteers who helped with the covering and uncovering of the pitch yesterday and today in an effort to have the game played. Tickets bought for today's game should be retained as they will be valid for the rearranged game.

Really poor this, IMO. My lawn has thawed out nicely and would be playable, if a tad bumpy!
Were the covers used? Couldn’t the decision have been delayed till 1pm or so, given the short distance from Crawley?
Blackpool v Town off as well, the only Championship game off. Town fans not happy, convinced Blackpool did nothing deliberately to allow their new manager more time to settle in.

I'm a bit surprised that it's OFF but my lawn is still frosty where the sun hasn't got to it and currently over a dozen games postponed in the EFL and NL.

Yes covers were used. I’d agree the ref should have given it a couple of hours given it’s a local game and temps rising relatively quickly.
