Some of the crowd are on the pitch, they think it’s all over, it is if we don’t beat Mansfield.

You only have to listen to Matt's comments after the game to realise we are still very much in the mix. All these top teams have to play each other and us so plenty to look forward to. 10 days off now to prepare for Mansfield.

Have to feel for a couple of the players singled out who have been great for us. I think we can be a bit more sympathetic when someone doesn’t reach their usual high standards, a little drop off in form is not uncommon nor unexpected. Randall for example remains a very good player and I don’t think for one moment he isn’t trying. He is very much a marked man in this league (as is Ajiboye). He also had a knock recently and was taken out of the team against Barrow. The challenge is to move the ball about quickly and accurately enough to get our wide players a bit more space. I thought Ajiboye did ok at times, a few good crosses first half when he did get the chance.

I don't think anyone watching the game last night could say that anyone who played for us last night had a good game (aside from perhaps Rose because of how little he really had to do). So I don't understand why some have been singled out based on a single game performance. There is literally something to be critical about with every outfield player who played last night.

Desperately poor from SU tonight, Grimsby were the only team to play any decent football and that wasn’t very often. One big grumble, which I’ve already emailed the club about. I don’t have any problem with colour blindness, but the lack of contrast in the strips tonight was not acceptable. Why the hell didn’t GT play in black and white stripes? When play was on the far side it was difficult to distinguish all amber from all pale pink. Completely agree. It's infuriating that so many teams throughout the leagues change their kits for no reason. We are as bad as anyone, all black at Wimbledon for the league game and Barrow on Saturday.

But then others have said different things, and you've stated you agree with all of that too. I think a few of us are unsure of what parts you actually agree with? Like whether our play off chances or gone or still on? Or that some players have been singled out for criticism or not. There have been a lot of contra views on here, so it's impossible to agree with all of it.

I'm surprised so many have written off the play offs so soon. 9 games. Win them all we'll be in it. Perhaps that's unrealistic, but the fact we are playing 6 teams above us increases those chances. Grinding results out against Mansfield, Stockport, Northampton and Carlisle would totally change the complexion. The interesting thing is that there are so many different views about why we lost and a lot of finger pointing about players, but at the end of the day whoever had a bad match, no single player lost us the game last night. As a collective we didn't turn up last night, and really if I had to pick a player of the match, I couldn't because no one stood out. Even when it was obvious in the 2nd half there was more of the same, the substitutions were the usual like for like. As a team we just ran out of ideas, and to be honest the signs of this were evident at home to Crewe a couple of weeks ago. Best team won last night, by a country mile. And you can be certain, if we were Grimsby we'd be wasting time just as much (but maybe slightly less obviously!). I'm not writing the season off as a "prepare for next season" until its out of our hands. Currently it's not. Its a fair point about Crewe as the signs were indeed there. 3-0 against Crawley flattered us, and the 0-0 at Barrow probably took any remaining energy from us. We've run out of steam. Perhaps the 10 day break will be what we need. I dont think the heavy pitch is helping at all. Although it looks OK, its IMO as heavy a surface as we've had since pre-4g. Yes, everyone had a poor game on Tue, but the reason I singled out WR as I genuninely think he's been poor since he got utterly marked out of the game against Stevenage. The knock at Hartlepool and the heavy pitches arent helping, but he's been ponderous and to me looks somewhat disinterested. Now, many including myself were not shy to heap on the praise when he was playing out of his skin during the first half of the season, so its not unreasonable to point out the opposite. I did not agree at all with the person who criticised Milsom, who's been up there for player of the season shout IMO. Wilson, it's not criticism to say his confidence is shot to hell and I genuinely feel sorry for the lad. He's a decent player and has in the past been good foil for OB but we have better options now and I think he'll need to move lower to get some goals and build up his confidence again. Perhaps a season long loan move instead of being released.
