Can't say anything is over yet. If we are in within a few points of the play offs then we will be in with a shout up until a couple games left to play.
Last night was a strange one. I actually think if we drew it would not have been an unifair result, as apart from their goal and a good header they them selves did not create much, and when a team start time wasting at 60m then you have to take that as giving you respect in a way.
I just think we did not have enough players on the mark yesterday and Grimsby defended very well after their goal. Just one of those days.
That all said, I think we deserved a penalty with two pretty good shouts for one..

I think it can be harder to gauage the effectivess of midfield players that either defenders or forwards, as their roles are more complex. They partly create the effectiveness of the team yet also suffer more if the effectiveness of the team, overall, is poor. Would it be fair to say of Will that we may have played him too much and, consequently he's running out of ideas? Mentally weary? I recall a similar effect settling in on Josh Neufville after he'd played a long sequence of matches earlier in the season.
Personally I'm still trying to find a yardstick for both Harry and for David. Harry is not as effective at this level as in the National (big surprise), where he was often very good indeed. But I think that very fact makes me, occasionally, see him as less effective now that he actually is. I rate David highly, but I'm beginning to feel that L1 might be a level too high for him.

Why do Will and David get picked on as representatives of underperforming players? It’s because, on their day, they are our most skilful and influential offensive team members who can conjure up goals and assists from nothing - and when they are on a run of not doing so then they are more obvious as players who are underperforming.
David needs to change his boots or studs as he is slipping over on a regular basis.
Will has lost his unpredictability and defenders know what to expect. 9/10 times he will cut inside, ignoring the overlapping team mate.
Neither are criticisms, just observations of two of our more talented individuals.

Desperately poor from SU tonight, Grimsby were the only team to play any decent football and that wasn’t very often. One big grumble, which I’ve already emailed the club about. I don’t have any problem with colour blindness, but the lack of contrast in the strips tonight was not acceptable. Why the hell didn’t GT play in black and white stripes? When play was on the far side it was difficult to distinguish all amber from all pale pink. Yes I thought the choice of colours was ridiculous. Who's idea is this "Away" strip? In the olden days it was only if there was a colour clash and last nights was more of a colour clash than their "home" kit.

What ever happens, we make the play-offs or not, we can say that Matt is doing a great job. He certainly changed my opinion and the future of this club is bright. Last night Grimsby came with a game plane, get the goal and Just hold on. Yes we were poor did not hold the ball up no width and only one shot on target. Some question the line up, but Matt has a lot of trust in this squad and those he picks can do a job. That was our first defeat at home for a while. It’s not the end off the world if we don’t make the playoffs because with this board and the signing of Angol mean that the ambition is there. Keep moving this club forward, we will get there. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

The management team and squad were able to keep our heads above water during that very difficult 4 moths pre-Christmas then when our injured players returned we kicked on to the fringes of the Play-offs with some excellent results. Just now, some players in particular do look a bit jaded and it could well be that the 10 day break will do everyone good. I thought that, as on most occasions, Matt's post match interview was very realistic about how we performed, how well we have done and where we are. Lets face it, you do still have to pinch yourself as to where we are and not getting relegated is still a massive achievement for us. "Punching above our weight" hardly covers it. Whenever I look at the National League table I shudder. It really is the one league in the whole pyramid I would not want to be watching Sutton in. Some very big rich teams and some old, grimace inducing adversaries fighting like cat and dog either to get out of it or simply to stay in it. No thank you! OK, so no Wembley appearance this year; "Sack the board!" (sorry, just repeating what every other teams forum seems to say when we beat them!! ) But still a successful season - and it's not over yet; neither is our great journey. #ForeverAmber
