Happy New Season, one and all. Will be paying close, albeit distant, attention as ever. Remember, there are 9 or so months to come, so try not to get too giddy/despondent whatever the result!

I'm not getting giddy, but thus far life is marvellous!

We (Notts) are acting like new year 7s. Being given a good seeing to by the older kids.
Btw who are your commentators? Can't even pronounce our players names

Fantastic Sutton. The guardian tipped Notts for promotion and us for relegation😂😂😂😂

What a result: did not see that coming, so well done all involved and also as said above, only 47 points to go. So what a day for U’S⚽️⚽️⚽️

Can't even pronounce our players names I don't think being a talented linguist is really a prerequisite for a commentator, but anyway, which names were wrongly pronounced? They look pretty straightforward.

Wow! Congratulations to Matt and the team for taking Sutton to their highest ever Pyramid position! Subs included I think there were 7 players making their league debuts for Sutton. So after the horrible PSF results today's score is such a turnaround Matt could sell a book about this week's training.

Wow.i did not see that coming. A few pundits had us down for a loss. But congrats to Matt and Jason and the rest of the backroom team for getting the squad up and running in a short period of time. Far far better than last Season.( More passing and less huff ball).I know it's only the first game but after today's game if the team can continue the same way they played, we will have no problems. The season looks really promising.

It’s great to hear their manager not blaming the sending off for that defeat. Makes a change, wish more managers would be like that, fair play to him. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Very enjoyable game, needless to say! Notts were defensively naive but make no mistake about it Sutton thoroughly deserved that win. Individually and collectively the squad looks much better this season than last. The team was going stale, far too predictable.
The biggest difference is up front. Kashket, Smith, Patrick and Coley, plus Angol and O’Brien later on, all contributed and offer different strengths and capabilities to each other. A good problem to have for MG.
Sowunmi was decent as well and I noticed Clay’s reaction as the players came off at half time, he looks like a proper team player.
An exceptional start. Congratulations all.

Football, eh? Bloody hell! We’ve waited almost 30 years to get the better of Notts County and we finally do it in some style.
I've been staring at the table for the last 5 minutes. Warm, fuzzy feeling.

One swallow doesn't make a summer but a very encouraging start. Quite how much this was due to playing against 10 for most of the game is impossible to say but we often haven't fully exploited such an advantage in the past. We looked much more of a threat going forward than last season with options all over the pitch and more composed in front of goal. 20 minutes of added time, presumably due to the new EFL rules, seemed a heck of a lot though it seemed to take an eternity for their sub GK to come on. Hopefully, future games won't be dragged out as much.
