I’m afraid our defence today was a shambles, every time the ball goes in the box they get a shot away, not helped by the midfield seemingly being over run like last week. Yes going forward we did better to day got in the box and actually shot for ones, but having said that scoring three goals away from home you should be getting something from the game. So Matt still has a lot off work to do sorting out our seemingly leaky defence and our midfield that is being over run at times. We are now seeing how much work Omar did for this team yes did not score the amount off goals he should have but held the ball up and worked those defenders. So another week with out a game that Matt can work on things, in Matt I trust ⚽️⚽️⚽️

I was unable to get to today's match. Wondering if there are any positives we can take from our performance. The BBC match report refers to some "comical defending" from us? I don't understand bearing in mind our defence is effectively the same as it's been over the last few seasons. I can't recall the last time we lost a run of 6 league games in a row!!

Two positives for me . I thought we would lose 3-0 but we only lost by two goals and managed to score three 😃😃

As I said this team is like Jekyll and Hyde, although I did not expect both to turn up at the same match. You have to go back a long time to find a match where U's conceded 7 times, 2 ruled out but not through defensive effort. Truly shambolic at the back not helped by a completely non existent midfield, we really miss Eastie, we don't have the likes of Kenny Davis to come in do that job, Jon Bardon, could do something in there when fit, but you have to have a bit of steel in the middle.
Going forward after the drinks break in the 1st half we did show a lot of positives, and to put the ball in the net 5 times away from home is no mean feat either. Patrick, O'Brien and Smith look good going forward.

Still quietly confident we’ll come right. Need to obviously defend a whole lot better than today. First shouldn’t have gone in, Patrick had a shocker on the 2nd etc etc. A positive that we got some goals but Swindon clearly are going to score and concede a fair few (unless they tighten up) so can’t put too much on the goals. The pen denied was clearly a big moment. On we go. I’d urge people to stick together. It’s the right and only option.

Whilst I'll agree things will come right (any nonsense about "being in a relegation scrap" after 7 games and being the start of September comes from a place of idiocy), I still think there are issues not being address. Whilst I totally understand we're a poorer side without Eastmond (and not just due to his technical ability on the pitch), I'm quite concerned about our defence. Whilst in some cases I understand we're forced to play certain players for longer than we'd want to, the regular back 5, which we saw today in place today is that 4 of them have issues of one sort of another. I think Rose, whilst having done some fantastic saves this season, still doesn't seem to command his defence. Milsom doesn't have the legs to play 90mins week in week out, and would be a real concern when we have the 9 games in 4 weeks coming up. Louis hasn't been anywhere near his usual standard since coming back from injury, and Kizzi is having such a shocking run of form he is starting to veer to being a liability at times. Only Goodliffe is performing OK, but he is being stretched to cover for others.
After the 3rd goal went in today and we had the drinks break, it was noted that Bouzanis called over both Louis and Ben and really looked to have a bit of a go of them.
The first 3 goals were all preventable. Goal 3 was the worst of the lot. We had so much time to clear but we decided to go full on keystone cops and gift them a very comfortable lead.
We've now got the worst defence in the league. 16 goals in 7 games says it all. I'd be disappointed if we start with the same back line at Accrington. If Jackson is fit enough, he really should start at right back, and if Souwumni and Hart are fit, they should both feature (the former starting, and the latter coming on to give Milsom a rest) and even Bouzanis replacing Rose. Whilst that sounds like a panic, we can't go on being too loyal, and the whole ethos of Matt is that there is "competition for every position". If not, then there is no point in having them. Each of those players who potentially may not play the next game won't mean they won't play again, but it may well be the place that the motivation could be there for them to win the place back, and be in no doubt that the entire squad will need to feature in the next month.
In terms of positives, we did score 3 goals, and I expect if we came away with a 2-0 defeat, we'd probably have slightly different emotions. But we can't hide the fact that we conceded 5 today, have still failed to get a clean sheet, and it's the 4th time in 7 league games where we've let in 3 or more.
We can and will do better, but to do so we have to be honest with what's going wrong and we shouldn't be afraid to ring changes if we need to.

That first 20 mins was probably worse than Rochdale last season. But the less said about that the better for all of us. At times there was some great football going forward.
For me, Kizzi and Goodlife could do with a spell out of the side. Kizzi looks low on confidence and form, and with a ready made replacement who can actually do the long throw, it may be best for everyone. Goodlife has some positives, but his constant diving in is a sign he doesn’t know what’s around him, he’s panicking and its really poor. And it’s been happening more often this season. So many straightforward shots which are going out for goal kicks or straight at Jack are flying off, leading to unnecessary corners leaving the defence a disorganised mess whilst one of its players is lying in the floor or making Jack chase across his goal line to keep it out. The worst of all of them was his “attempt” to block the 5th goal.
There have been calls for a change of tactics but I actually think there have been. When the opposition keeper has the ball, one winger steps up whilst the other drops so it’s more of a 4-3-3. I can’t work out the merits of it yet, but there are signs that Matt is subtly changing little things with the side.
My main concern from today is actually about the bench. Jason spent most of the game patrolling the edge of the area and Matt was nowhere to be seen at the end of the game. Really hope it was just the sun getting to him and he’s ok.

The first goal was incredibly poor, from allowing the shot in, to the keeper not saving it. It was a 6th min gift to a good Swindon side. The second goal was a good finish but was given too much space to place the shot, so again, bad defending. The third was a scramble which should have been hoofed clear, again, bad defending.
From that point I think we all considered an early departure to the bar, I know I did. But then we see Sutton start to push forward with some good movement and not only nick a couple goals but be fairly good value for them as well. It would not have been unfair to go in half time at 3-3 given quite an obvious penalty not given to Coley.
Second half we started brightly but then Swindon started to get some momentum and scored a couple goods goals. Had we not given them a 3-0 head start we could have got a good result today.
Negatives are. After having one of the more solid defences in the league, with the same backline, we now appear we have the worst, we cant handle teams running at us. Perhaps this is not just the defence but a lack of Midfield cover and maintaining possession? I don't know.
We appear to give the ball away in midfield too much allowing other teams chances they dont have to create.
We have lost too many games on the bounce and teams are starting to smell blood.
Positives Are Individual players are looking good. In Coley and Patrick I think we have actually improved on Ajiboye and Randel. And Smith already has almost as many goals as Omar did in the whole of last season.
I also think Keshet and O'Brien are also an improvement on last year.
The team are still working very hard and were having a go up till the last minute today. As fans we must respect the players when they do this. And at least its a sign that Matt still has the dressing room and motivation is still there. Thank God!
We need to cut the silly errors out, and we need to get back to basic solid reliable defending. If we can do that then who knows? But I think we are going to having to fight to stay up this year for the first time.

Huff ball for the first 20 minutes 3 nil down.Water break, then we started passing, resulting in us getting back in the game.Would have settled for the draw at 3-3.It could have been a lot worse than the end result!! As been said in earlier posts Kizzi is way off form,Milson can't continue playing 90+minutes week in week out.No midfield.Again been said, missing Eastie. Something must be said, worse defence in the whole league.Hope Matt and Jason get this sorted. Question. What is our record over the past 14- 15 league games ( This ,and the end of last season? )

I thought the midfield was ok today especially going forward. Swindon actually by passed them a lot of the time with their long balls up front. Jackson must start and Rob can't go 90 mins in this heat. I won't fault the centre backs but Rose had to do better with the first goal which set the tone for the match.

It was after all the players and Jason and Micky had been over.
