I had been excited about the draw from the moment our second goal hit the back of the net yesterday . Had a very nice evening with that winning feeling safely in the back of my mind all the time , had almost forgotten what that was like to be honest . Then this morning , very busy outdoors with jobs whilst watching the time ….. not long to go now etc . Then the time to gather in front of the tv . Was even joined by my wife and our three cats , none of whom like football although the cats occasionally watch the ball moving on the tv but I’m not sure that counts . Daughter could not be persuaded to show even faint , false interest 😢 .
Then the draw , watching all the big boys slowly come out of the bowl with no sign of us . Then it happened …. away to bloody Plymouth . No offence to them or their fans but what a huge disappointment . Now I know how Elon Musk must have felt watching his latest SpaceX rocket failure 😢😢.
So , I’m grateful for all the comments trying to be upbeat but for personally I’m struggling to find anything positive about it . Off to cry now ………

As an afterthought at least we won’t be playing in green, can never get on with the colour.

About as bad as it could have been in my book. Anyone have anything positive to say to make me feel happier? Devon in January? Cream scones, scrumpy? An absolute thrashing? RN sailors' nickname for Plymouth was Guz (as in guzzle). So you might be on to something here (especially if you throw in the pasties from just over the border with Cornwall)

About the worst possible draw I reckon - there are a lot of away ties I would go to, but Plymouth in early January I can’t muster the enthusiasm to go to I’m afraid

I'm looking forward to it. New ground for me, plus Plymouth has sixteen entries in the Good Beer Guide - so plenty of opportunities to drown any sorrows.😆
There are certainly worse draws that we could have had.

Ok not the best draw, long journey away with the odds in favour of the home team progressing. But here's the thought that had been in my head since we were scheduled to play Horsham. As the team who was likely to prevail in the 2nd round, I'm sure i'm not the only one who had been thinking about a potential plum tie in round 3. Bearing mind that the priority this season is always (but never more than right now) league form/position. If a Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, etc. had come out, would our league form suffered in the run up? Players (subconciously) thinking ahead rather than on the immediate job in hand, holding back over the Xmas fixtures not wanting to get injured etc. Since the FAC has thrown up a more "vanilla fixure" in round 3, this clearly is not such a big concern. And by the time we have seen off Argyle and headed to round 4, we will have strung together a great run of form in December and January and be sitting in a far more comfortable position in League 2. (crosses fingers and toes!)

I for one am quite happy. We've made the third round of the F.A. Cup and the club have earned a minimum of £108,000 in prize money. This match at Plymouth can be considered a free hit. The principal objective is to avoid the drop and we've now only lost one game in the last eight.

The draw is what it is. As I alluded to in the first post in the thread, our chances of playing a championship side were higher than any other division, so it's not a surprise we got one.
It's a side we've never played before and we can only play what is in front of us. I still think it's more of an attractive tie than playing an L2 team away, or the likes of Stevenage or Port Vale.
By the time we get to Jan 6th, hopefully some of our injuries will be back and maybe a couple of new faces could feature. The way we're playing at the moment, we're proving tough to beat and we could go into this game with every chance of getting something out of the tie.
We're far from out.

Last year I think 22 of the 32 ties were moved for our tv : overseas TV and police requests
So Sat 1230 Sat 1730 Sun 1400
All possible even though Sutton won't be picked by BBC or ITV

By January better players from lower or similar levels to our own have even chance of being cup tied .

You can’t be giant-killers if you don’t get drawn against a club from a higher division.
