Just been out all afternoon at a Christmas carols concert in a very happy mood …… and then I checked the score . Not so happy now 😢. Now it’s true to say that my favourite carol is “ Little donkey “ ( my wife says it is not a carol ) so my question is ….. did we have eleven of them playing for us today ? Still , I will not call for Matt to go because as I said on this forum a few weeks ago I am reconciled to us going down and this result obviously does little to dissuade me from that opinion . Looking forward to Matt’s interview but cannot bring myself to watch it just yet . If by chance any players read this forum ( surely none would be that stupid but there again ) I would suggest that they look for another club in January because they are clearly not worth their wages and should go so that we can start building for next season in the National League . Looking forward to the usual let’s not panic posters now ! You say that, but Matt dose have too take some of the blame.⚽️⚽️

Because our football is just so depressing at the moment I would like to pose an alternative subject and question please .
Here goes …. Am I the only person who thinks Little Donkey is a Christmas carol ?
Second question whilst logged in ….. which player is our biggest donkey this season ?

We will see in the next few days how desperate the club are to stay in league 2 That is the fundamental point. I do know that this result has not made our relative situation worse in terms of the table (goal difference aside, and another game gone) and I do take on board the arguments that there is only so much we could change, both in terms of finance and opportunity. But if we do not make some change it is becoming progressively harder to see how we can escape the drop. And arguments to the contrary become progressively thinner. If you once accept that we are now, as things stand, unlikely to stay up the question becomes what are you prepared to try to keep what we have?

The only realistic reason now that Matt can stay is if the board believe he is the right person to bring us back up from the NL for that is where we are heading.
Matt has achieved great things with our little club but there’s a real danger of this season being so catastrophic that it will damage that legacy. Matt is so obviously a decent and honourable man - he should do the decent and honourable thing and step down.

I see Sam Hart is back in the starting 11. Is it just coincidence? Yes. If you think 1 player is responsible for for a post war league record defeat, then I think you're nuts.

only 3 years up will be an unwanted 'record' I don’t think anybody will lose any sleep over this meaningless irrelevancy. Ten years ago, I’d have sold my soul to the devil for three seasons in the Football League.

Nice to go down with a bit of a fight though

Getting back to basics the problem with our club is to me quite simple . Whether we like it or not we are a very small club with a very small ground and a very small regular fan base . This all leads to us having a very small budget compared to other clubs to spend on what us fans want it to be spent on …. a quality squad of players to at least keep us in League Two . It’s quite obvious that Matt’s plan to revitalise the squad after last season has failed spectacularly , although injuries have certainly not helped him . Now the board has two options , stick with Matt , bring in a couple or more players in January and hope we can hold onto the coat tails of the clubs above us and ultimately beat the drop without breaking the bank and rebuild next season . The second option would be to splash the cash and fire Matt and spend big in January . The only problem with this option is that it would not guarantee success and if we got relegated anyway with the lack of cash next season could see us in real financial difficulty . Neither option are easy calls . Personally I think the club will go for option one . If that is to be the case I would love to see some new faces on the pitch in January , probably on loan , and a handful of our current squad shown the door although this is easier said than done because given the majority of our performances this season who the hell would come to ANY of our matches and think that they are seeing a missing link in their own squad ?
I agree with the comments of Stewart ( it is only a football match ) because far worse is happening in the world today ( my father was Ukrainian ) and those of halftimet , it would be nice to go down with a bit of fight . The latter was sorely lacking today judging by the “ highlights”

I'm not rushing to any conclusions on the back of one spectacularly bad performance and result. But perhaps some of us were lulled into the belief that a corner had been turned. It hadn't. We'd reached a landing on a flight of stairs, but have just fallen back down those stairs. It's now a very long way to the top.

You make a statement but don't back it up. What makes you an expert on running a football club? I have seen little evidence of you having any on here from you over the years. I don't recall you making this comment when we got to Wembley and just missed out on the play offs in our first EFL season, i.e. since promotion.

Stockport were certainly up for it from the first minute and seemed to win every second ball. We were also not helped by a linesman who couldn't keep up with play. Conceding the first goal so early didn't help with no understanding whatsoever between Kizzi & Hart at the back all first half and a goalkeeper more interested in what the opposition supporters were shouting at him rather than concentrating on his own personal performance which today was quite shocking. At 3-0 it was game over and although changes were made at half time we didn't seem to have the guile to score. Just pumping the ball forward to Smith didn't work today. Matt and his assistants need to change the way we play with the players available.
