Another tough match for a depleted Sutton squad. There was a glimmer of hope in the way we played on Saturday. A local derby could throw up a surprise result and i have a feeling we are going to come away from plough lane with all 3 points but don't bank on it!
Travelling to the ground won't be easy as there are no trains running to Haydons Road but some have suggested a 280 to St George's Hospital and then a 10 minute walk. However looking at the number of stops along the route i'm planning to park up at Morden underground and take the tube to Tooting Broadway. Then either walk or get a 493 to Plough Lane. Parking would appear to be extremely restrictive near the ground and parking restrictions will still be in force on Boxing day.

This is one of those games I'll go to more in hope than expectation. AFCW have improved since last season while we've gone backwards.
Easy journey for me, as the Plough Lane stadium is a 15-minute walk from my front door. π
Anybody getting the tube from Morden may wish to consider alighting at Colliers Wood, crossing into Wandle Park, then following the Wandle Trail down to Plough Lane. It's a pleasant 20-minute walk, and there's a chance of seeing a Kingfisher.
After the game, fans of both clubs will be mingling amicably in the Sultan pub (my local), Norman Road, South Wimbledon. There's the possibility of a move on to the Trafalgar in High Path, Merton.

I don't know if this will change your plans, but all controlled parking in Merton is suspended on Boxing day except for zone W3 and W4 (roughly between Wimbledon High St and Trinity Road and around the Gladstone Road area to Merton Park. So parking around Haydons Road isn't restricted aside from actually finding a space. www.merton.gov.uk/streets-parking-transport/parking/bank-holidays

Walked past our ground this morning about 1030 saw Jason Goodliffe walking in having come from the train station I presume. Wished him good luck today. Just about acknowledged me and looked like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. Not a good omen for today.

Don't forget that Jason has captained both AFC Wimbledon and Sutton. Although his loyalty must now be to us, today's match will be something of an emotional strain. And I doubt that the pressure on him will have been eased by any significant shortening of our injury list.
I imagine he'll get a warm reception from the home fans, even if his team doesn't.

On top of all the other pressures I would imagine there must be some feeling of disloyalty to his really good friend that heβs been working so closely with over the last 5 years as he steps into Mattβs role albeit for an interim period. But being the ultimate professional that he is, heβs doing his duty to club, players and fans during this very difficult period for us all. Hats off to him.

If I was Steve Arnold, I'd hand in a transfer request. Just how bad does Dean bouzanis have to play before he gets dropped? Just shows there is no consequence to poor performance, and loyalty to certain players goes above selection on merit at this club. Pathetic decision.

At least Ben Goodliffe's back and starting. Sowunmi's on the bench.

It's a Christmas miracle. Well done to the team, I'm gonna shut up now.

Best away display of the year. Better team from start to finish. Off the bottomπ I hope the ref got a new watch for Christmas because the one he used today is broken. Eight and a half added minutes ? !!!
