This is a bit fishy, the temp in Mansfield is above freezing and not expected to drop below overnight with temps up to 7oC tommorrow.

This is a bit fishy, the temp in Mansfield is above freezing and not expected to drop below overnight with temps up to 7oC tommorrow. I can't think of any reason why Mansfield would want the game postponed from tomorrow until the following Tuesday. The explanation surely is that the Field Mill pitch, which I understand gets little sunshine during the winter, was deeply frozen earlier this week and is unlikely to thaw out fully by 3pm tomorrow.

The decision has been made, The temperature at the moment (7pm) is only just above freezing. With the penetrating frost still coming out of the ground by tomorrow afternoon the pitch, at best, would probably be a sticky dangerous mess. A brave early decision that saves a lot of hassle and worry particularly for the traveling team and their supporters.

I was fishing around in the week to get an idea on the state of their pitch. The feeling in Mansfield camp is they are gutted and do not want their mid week game congestion as they do not see it as a help their push.
Also, they posted footage of the inspection.

I may be in a minority here but, good. Tough away matches against high placed teams should come a little easier to us once Steve and the new players have had more chance to bed in. Glad it was called off in good time so that no one got stuck travelling. Not much fun for the fans who travel to away games! Eh? I did say that I was pleased the match was called off before anyone travelled. And at the point I posted that it had not been announced that it would be now be played midweek.

Whoever (from both clubs) decided to rearrange for Tuesday not only did not consider the issue for fans, Sutton's in particular, but the forecast.
50 mph winds in Mansfield, Tuesday evening will make it a difficult watch let alone how the players will cope.

No doubt the weather and pitch condition will be considered in good time before travel, again.(I would hope!)

If they’re going to predict I’d rather it was 0-1!
