I made my thoughts known about the previous activities off the pitch in the close season, so I won't revisit it.
But what I would say is the club needs to work on its persona, most of what it puts out on social media is cringe worthy. When it wants to get the message out it tends to fail and what it doesn't makes global news.
Media now has full time professional staff but in truth the product is worse than when a few amatuers run it and it didn't cost £100k+ a year to do either.(although I don't know what that is brining in revenue)

I'm certainly not in panic mode. OK, the performance was far from the best, but I feel we need to get behind the young lads and give them a little more confidence. Better performances - and more victories - will surely come, I feel. There was enough evidence of that. My personal beef is that a lot of the 'fans' sat around me were far too swift to criticise and even ridicule the team they are supposed to be supporting. I can't understand that mentality at all. Why go to a match and slag off your own team?

Expectations were perhaps raised rather too much over the summer. Some around the club seemed to think that Steve Morison would lead us back into League Two at the first attempt. That could still happen, but the odds are lengthening. Getting out of the National League (in an upward direction) has never been easy. A number of our fans need to wise up to this.

I have managed to calm down a bit after Saturday now. That was no way a 3-0 performance, although it was poor from us. We were denied a penalty after their player prevented a lose ball with their hand, it was arguably a sending off as well as it may have had intent. Their first goal was actually very well worked, although we did not mark the scorer, their second goal was poor defending allowing them first to the ball as Forest Green did last week. And their third was a joke on our part and summed up our mind set in the whole game. But we really should have found the net a couple times.
I think basically we have to put our feet back on the ground (I partly blame our PR team for hyping this season as if we have just spent 5m on players). A solid mid table finish will be decent compared to last season. We have to get in the mind set that this is not a promotion push, but the start of a brand new squad which we hope will evolve into a promotion chasing team, the PR machine might not think that's as marketable, but its the truth.
I think our goals should be to finish comfortably in mid table and if we have a really good season, be within arms reach of a play-off charge come the last month of the season. A good cup run would be handy as well. First things first, get that 50+ points to ensure we survive this league then we can see what's next.
We are a handful and for that reason I would be surprised if we were in a relegation scrap, But we do have flaws.

There doesn't seem to be a match report on the website yet. Too embarrassed? Or something more serious going on behind the scenes? Or the match report came up in the normal time period. Which it did. Christ almighty, one sh*t game and some people think the club is in a state of collapse. and somewhere in the middle of this thread is sunglasses70 with his/her unfathomable agenda...

I was feeling a bit nostalgic on Saturday. My first ever Sutton game was against Boston at home, on the first Saturday in September. And yes, we lost that one too. We didn't lose it in the same way though.
For me, I thought we were going to be in for a rough afternoon about 5 mins before they scored. We had a golden opportunity to score, but at least 4 players decided it was better to pass it rather than shoot in the penalty area. I found that puzzling compared to how we've scored other goals this season, but something in my head went "uh oh, they're really not confident out there". Two poor defending goals and probably the most farcical goal I'll see for years gave us a hiding we probably deserved. Our biggest home defeat for over a year (AFC Wimbledon) I think.
We're still only 2 defeats from 7, and still unbeaten away from home. I'm actually pleased we have 2 away games coming up, I think getting out of GGL after Saturday will be a chance for the squad to reset, even if we don't have the time to address properly the weakness in defence and our sudden toothlessness up front.

Goals change games and their 1st goal should have been ruled out for offside. Poor officiating for their 3rd goal but as they say play to the whistle (although I have heard people say they heard a whistle)

Poor officiating for their 3rd goal but as they say play to the whistle (although I have heard people say they heard a whistle) Good shout, I just watched it back. While they would argue he was not involved in play, he was obstructing the goal keeper, so actually a decent call for off side. But this also underlines our incompetence that day, as Arnold never even called for offside, none of them did which shows how off the mark they were, as with the third goal. They should have noticed these things at the time. Also, not only should we have had a penalty but the annoying thing is, had their player not have controlled it with his arm, it would have rolled out to Nadesan for a tap in.

Why go to a match and slag off your own team? I think that's a stupid thing to say. Yes we do support the team and pay money for the privilege (unlike you probably) but when they performed as badly as that they deserve to be slagged off. We pay to see them play well. The officials were also terrible. Firstly the referee not given us a penalty for a blatant hand ball ad then giving a handball their way which he couldn't have seen from his angle. Boston to their credit blocked numerous shots. Then the third goal. As an earlier poster said the first thing you should learn is to play to the whistle. However the number of times when linesmen (that is basically their job) delay flagging until well after the infringement and players could get injured, then this idiot who obviously doesn't know the laws flagged immediately he thought (Or didn't think!) their players were offside. It was Simper's ball playing them all onside. I turned away in disbelief and didn't realise the ball had gone into the net so after the officials' half hour discussion I was amazed a goal was given.

While I often share the frustration you are addressing, I dont see the point in putting the players and staff down. I am pretty sure they would also rather win and play well. I tend to just go and have an early beer if I am that upset with the performance, but giving the team stick is not going to change anything and may even make matters worse, especially with a pretty young and new side. Referees on the other hand.... 😈

A total mess on the pitch as well as off it.But big up the club of taking down the rainbow flag near the tardis during this sensitive period. Think you will find it was taken down alongside the 2 other advertising boards that were there due to a new sponsor sponsoring the terrace and their new signage being put in place. I am sure the Pride flag will be in a new place very soon.
