Thought I’d get this one up and running early to build some interest as the week goes on. So we find ourselves back in the 4th qualifying round after a three season hiatus of entering at the First Round Proper whilst we were in the league, our opposition at the weekend Chertsey Town - currently 16th in the Southern League Premier South division.
Chertsey play at Alwyns Lane, a ground which holds 2,500 where Sutton have been given an allocation of 400 tickets, think the stage of one of our last SSC exits under Dos (happy to be corrected).
Over the years the 4th qualifying round of the cup has seen highs (Forest Green and Hampton), lows (Billericay, Bromley - more than once, Boreham Wood), thrillers (think Hemel and Leatherhead - both went to replays) and banana skins (think Moreton Town and Poulton Rovers) - I wonder what category Saturdays game will fit into.
See you Saturday.

Steve Morison's first cup game as a U's manager.

All FA Cup matches can be banana skins but i'm very confident we can progress into the First Round proper. I seem to remember going to this ground before in the dim and distant past. £9375 for the winners of this tie.

Will Steve play his strongest side? Maybe Jack Sims and Matt Rush making a start!

They won their FA Trophy game on Saturday so in spite of their league position they should be on a roll.

I’m looking forward to Saturday - I like the fact we are back in the qualifying rounds, feels like we are giant killers of the future once again…!
Emphatic away win.
Chertsey 0 v 4 SU

Very true Dave. But maybe we don't count as giants now we're non-league again. There will be plenty of Chertsey fans who will remember us being in the same league! But it would indeed be foolish not to take them seriously as opposition.

Sounds from his interview as though Morison is taking it very seriously so should be a strong side out and get the job done to be in the hat for the first round.

Still no proper preview for this on the website, just travel and ticket info under the heading Match Report. I’m assuming this comes under the media team remit? Any one know the best way to highlight things with them? Is it through Tony or Jack?

I’ve just seen one - under News in the website. Quite informative.
