We had those type of pitches at Brunel Uni. They were called 3rd Generation pitches, or 3G for short. They were great, apart from hundreds of black pellets all over your house when you got in! www.brunel.ac.uk/life/sport/outsport/3gspitch

They still aren't that great on a goalie's thighs if he's skidding out at a striker's feet, but infinitely better than the sand-covered razor-pitches Rax is talking about.

I'm the reserve goalie and while we can't slide out due to our stupidly small areas it does bloody hurt when you dive. I don't mind donning the gloves on but would rather stick to my duty on pitch as the pain is a real turn off. I think Rapid Delight needs to relocate!

Hurts when you dive! No wonder premier league strikers refuse to play on it.

Great picture.
An orange ball, a large bovril from the tea hut and the club earning a few quid by charging for ice skating in the car park : we could have had a great day.
More fun than being sent up to clear out the loft anyway!
